I think it'll be in Central Park. It fits with the reason why they're doing the show - to help the milliontreesnyc plan.

Nothing to do with the "announcement", but they are rumoured to be in talks for a 3D film with the same folks that did the U2 film. As are some other big name acts(Prince, REM, Bruce, Tim McGraw) THIS IS ALL RUMOUR AT THE MOMENT

Not sure where the Coppers would film it. Jones Beach? Stadium? Arena? Amphitheater?

I just saw The Police last night at here in Dallas. They were far better than when they came to Dallas last summer. Elvis Costello wasn't too shabby himself.

Well, that's good to know. My friend and I didn't go because we were a little disappointed in last years performance. It was OK. Of course I would have liked to have seen Elvis, but I hate freaking Starplex...Superpages.com...whatever the F you want to call that place. So with those two strikes, we didn't want to take a chance. I also paid a fortune last year to see them, I couldn't justify it again.

I really think they overdid it with this tour. Obviously there was significant demand. But they should have just stuck with arenas, and put multiple shows in the cities that could actual sell out 2 shows. I saw them last year in Louisville, and though the show is listed as a sellout, it was not sold out by a long shot.

U2 were wise to not try stadiums again in the US, and I would never recommend they do again. If the Police, one of the biggest bands of the
80's, reunites and can't even sell out stadiums in LA, that means the touring business is not what it once was. The Rolling Stones also had trouble selling out stadiums on their last tour. It sounds much better to say "U2 played 6 sold out arena shows in the LA area" than to say "The Police sold half the tickets available for Dodger stadium".

Depends if the economy is good when u2 tours the US.

Advantages U2 have over The Police for large shows in the US are some setlist variation night after night and ticket prices that are jacked up to the moon. Plus GA tickets make serious u2 fans go crazy.

I thought I got an email about the final MSG show with the B52's opening.

Has any particular show been filmed? Anyone see film crews and such?

got an email...

Sting, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland To Appear with Elvis Costello For a Television Farewell... WIN TICKETS!!!

To All Police Fans:

We are looking for one hundred fifty fan club members to attend a special event on Wednesday afternoon, August 6th in New York City, where the band will film an episode of Spectacle: Elvis Costello with...!

For this historic music television event, Sting, Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland will perform and discuss with Elvis their varied and respective interests in music as individuals, as well as the remarkable chemistry together that has made The Police one of the biggest bands in music history. The show will premiere later this year on the Sundance Channel in the USA, CTV in Canada and Channel 4 in the UK with FremantleMedia Enterprises distributing the series internationally.

The location of the August 6th taping will be confirmed 24 hours prior to the performance.

These tickets cannot be purchased. They are not transferable. They will not be posted out to the winners and will need to be picked up in person either the day before the show (August 5) or on August 6.

Please note that this contest is for one ticket only. You must be over 18 years of age to enter.

For your chance to win a ticket to the taping visit the News section for instructions on what you need to do. I guess from the Police's website

And as a reminder, on August 7, the Police play their final concert, a fundraiser for New York public television stations Thirteen/WNET and WLIW21, at Madison Square Garden with special guests the B-52's. Only a few tickets remain for this show.
