Streets that far down? R.E.M.'s Stand that high? Its a fun-as-hell song, but damn its not anywhere near their best.

Lists are dumb! (I wish I could say that in the voice of Morbo from Futurama).

Fuckin' right, I do. "Lapsed Catholics" is one of the best songs I've heard in a while. Certainly one of the best of the year, so far.

The Futurist Blog Archive SXSW 2009 Session Recap - Future Of The Left

Ha! Yeah, it was basically a coin-flip between name-checking one of those two songs. Fucking brilliant. "Drink Nike" also is stunning. The whole record, really. Not quite as good as Curses, but still bone-crushingly great.

Cannot wait FINALLY to see them, this summer. They're playing a HEADLINING gig in Chicago, and it will be a highlight of my life.

Anyway, yeah. I'm done derailing. Sorry.

i wonder how long they spend making this list. i mean, do they really spend a bunch of time debating whether "Give It Away" should be #167 or #166?

Thanks for contributing nothing to the discussion, great job! :|

What discussion? What do you want me to say? I gave my opinion. I guess I could have dug a bit deeper and said something like "What a fucking terrible list. Good lord. Whoever put this list together needs to swiftly remove their head from betwixt their ass cheeks." Or I could have said "What a fucking terrible list. Good lord. I'd like this list better if it was renamed 'Top 500 songs by bands who wouldn't have a job if it weren't for R.E.M.'" or "What a fucking terrible list. Good lord. There is a serious lack of well-adjusted female vocalists on this list."

Or some shit like that. What are you looking for here? The discussion? What fucking discussion? You coming in here, don't post for months and then just drop a big ass list of song titles from a radio station on our laps and expect us to come up with brilliant discussion?

so far the list seems a bit like they knew which artists they wanted on it and then rather randomly picked songs from these artists and threw it together without much of any order

compared to most lists out there, esp by other radio stations/magazines etc, it's great
but it could have been even better it seems

246 Blur There's No Other Way
236 Happy Mondays Step On
235 Yo La Tengo Autumn Sweater
234 Arcade Fire Wake Up
227 The Jam In The City
192 Jeff Buckley So Real

142 Elvis Costello Alison
135 The Smiths There Is A Light That Never Goes Out
130 The Shins Caring Is Creepy

:alterna-squee!!!:

Great list so far. I approve, even though I suspect the order was an afterthought.

Good Lord, GAF. Get a grip. Perhaps Sound of the Underground will be #125. I know you'll want to grip tighter for that.

Ah, I get it now. You are upset because I have not posted in months. Ok, missed you too, I'll try and be here more often so that my posts are validated better.

And trust me, the list is not without some songs I dont care for, some artists I downright hate etc. But as a whole, name a more diverse radio station listing that compiles music from the last 25 plus years, about 20 of which the station was straight up commericial radio? Got one, no?

Lists are lists, if you don't like em, move on.

I would like to apologize on behalf of me and mine for the silly posting actions that have occurred this day.

EP, I owe you a beer.
