I just preordered the album on iTunes to get this single.

Mass quantities of beer has lowered my inhibitions.

Looks like they and a few others are going to be covering Stone Roses' entire debut as well.

They really are awesome, the Flaming Lips.

Ohhh bullshit!! I'll get on it the second I get home. Easily one of my most anticipated albums of the year.

Definitely buying the vinyl too, it'll look gorgeous.

So it looks like this actually leaked days ago, and supposedly the rip is awful. I'm gonna wait.

Guh, $40 for the vinyl and $16 for the CD....I'll pick it up when I'm in Chicago on RSD, I suppose.

Sounds fine to me on my douche headphones. No shame in waiting but yeah, there's dynamics to the sound and it isn't particularly quiet/distant-sounding like most bad rips.

Well, the title is apt. Sweet Jesus.

If the Flaming Lips' career arc in any way resembled the Cure's, this album would be Pornography.

If it wasn't a month until the release I'd wait as well but I caved. It sounded fine to my ears but I'm no audiophile. I'm now just filling space so my thoughts on it won't show up in the threads on the app.

I was pretty disappointed. I was a bit worried that The Terror would turn out to be just an album of the sort of songs they've been making since Embryonic, most of which have been sort of slow, heavily distorted tracks with Wayne's vocals buried deep in the mix. There have been exceptions of course, but most of those ended up on Heady Fwends, which is way better than The Terror. I know it wouldn't fit, but Sun Blows Up is better than anything here. I really like the opening track Look...The Sun is Rising and the ending of Always There...In Our Hearts is great too. You Lust would be good if it went for five or six minutes, there's no need for it to drag out past 13 minutes. Butterfly (How Long it Takes to Die) is marginally better than the one that appeared on the Strobo Trip "EP" (an EP that lasts six hours and 12 minutes) but that's not saying much. I hope it grows on me.

And for those over the confetti

"We're deciding what to do with 'The Terror' because it's something of a different mood," Coyne says. "When I see videos of Flaming Lips shows, it's a catastrophe of excitement -- it's light and confetti in your face. So we're going to take a left turn and not do shows like that for a little while. It can be something else -- some new version that we can yet again incorporate into this ever-moving thing that's part of our 30-year path."
