Friggin' ridiculous! If I let the tie stand, over half the tracks from Wish would go through

Well, ladies and gentlemens, we have a four-way tie for fourth place. You know what that means:

24-hour run-off thread.

It's very simple. Vote for your favorite of the four songs.

Just one vote.

One Song

One favorite.

May the best song win (Come onnnnn "To Wish Impossible Things")

Honestly, I'd probably rate To Wish Impossible Things fourth out of these four. I'll show myself out now.

I know this is the wrong thread for this, but I don't want to turn RMT into Random Cure talk again, and since we had this Run-Off thread, it's too early to start the next thread, buuuuutttt....

I'm listening to Wild Mood Swings for about the 3rd or 4th time and I just DO NOT get the hate for the album at all. It's so fun and poppy and it was pretty much the last thing they did that didn't feel like they almost hated everything in the world. It's fucking long, but so is Wish.

I don't know that you were directing that towards me or not, but I'll respond. I listened to the album again today. I definitely enjoy the album more than I did the last time I heard it, but "Cut" was my second least favorite song.

Prior to today, I'd never heard a note from three of the four post-Wish albums (I've heard Bloodflowers). So I figured I'd give them a go. Wild Mood Swings, on first listen, is pretty bleh. Not terrible, just utterly mediocre and uninteresting. How did they fall so fast? Though I guess they've always been an erratic band. From Pornography to Disintegration they veer wildly between shitty albums and great ones.

The original idea behind Wild Mood Swings was to make every track sound like it was from a different band. They finally semi-abandoned the idea, but the album still suffered for it.

Bloodflowers is a nice return to form.

Having Ross Robinson produce The Cure was obviously a mistake.

4:13 Dream = lost the plot.

Porl Thompson and Boris Williams leaving was a major factor in the decline of the band. I never liked Jason Cooper as a drummer, while Porl's big guitar moments were sorely missed.

Wish already sort of sounded like that anyway!

Though I meant erratic in the abrupt changes in quality between albums, rather than the style of Wild Mood Swings, which I just found consistently mediocre. Don't know if I'll participate in voting or not. Little stuck out to me. I'll give it another spin or two.

I thought I got you to listen to 4:13 Dream, Axxo?

You got me to give Bloodflowers a spin, but I've never heard 4:13 Dream. I probably just forgot to get around to it. Well, don't worry, I'll be giving it a go soon to see if it really is that bad!

I remember watching some truly horrible performance a few years ago on some US late night show where both Robert and Porl looked worse than words can describe. I'm presuming that was related to 4:13 Dream?

Also, Porl Thompson is now calling himself Pearl Thompson? What?!

That's what Wikipedia says without a source, so I googled "porl pearl thompson" and it seems to be a thing. I didn't really look into it thoroughly though.

I've just run across this hilarious discussion about whether he had a sex change operation. One poster in particular was adamant about the topic, how concocted and "insulting" it was that he chose a feminine name. His name was Muldfeld.
