Welcome to The Cure survivor! Halloween seems like a nice day to start this on, eh?

I'm going to run this very similarly to the way I ran the Springsteen survivor (visit this thread, if you would like to see the breakdown of that one), but there will be one big difference:

Since there isn't a TON of demand for this survivor, to avoid dragging this part out, we are going to have but ONE round for each album. In it you will vote for your FAVORITE songs on the album, depending on the number of songs that album gets to move on to the next round. These polls will be open for 2-3 days, we'll see what participation is like.

So, how many songs do each album get? I'm glad you asked!

There are 13 albums by The Cure + Join the Dots and various other random released stuff. That breaks down to something like this:

Tier 1: Each album will get 4 songs (Disintegration will get 5)
1) Disintegration - 20 votes
2) Pornography - 16 votes
3) The Head on the Door - 14 Votes
4) Wish - 12 Votes

Tier 2: Each album will get 3 songs
5) Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me - 10 Votes
6) Faith - 9 Votes
6) Seventeen Seconds - 9 Votes
8) Bloodflowers - 7 Votes
9) The Top - 5 Votes

Tier 3: Each album will get 2 songs (Except for Three Imaginary Boys. It will be joined with Boys Don't Cry and will get 4 songs)
10) Three Imaginary Boys/Boys Don't Cry - 2 votes
11) The Cure - 1 vote
12) Wild Mood Swings - 0 Votes
13) 4:13 Dream - 0 Votes (shame on you two albums, even Human Touch got one vote in the Springsteen survivor)

Each tier will then have a semi-final, the third tier's semi-final will include 4 tracks from Join the Dots (one from each disc), and 2 tracks from whatever b-sides/etc. are left after that.

If you have a problem with all that, let me know, I'll try and figure out a way to make this all work.

SO! Since this is the Three Imaginary Boys/Boys Don't Cry round, you will vote for your FOUR FAVORITE songs. This will be one round and I will leave the poll open for 3 days. If that seems too long, we'll reduce to two days after this.

Have fun!

Hate to leave out the title track (Three Imaginary Boys), but I think the four songs that should move on from here are pretty obvious:

Boys Don't Cry
Fire in Cairo
Jumping Someone Else's Train
10:15 Saturday Night

I suspect I should have merged these in the original poll, I think this album would have had more than two votes as a result.

10:15
Grinding Halt
Fire In Cairo
Three Imaginary Boys
Boys Don't Cry
Jumping Someone Else's Train
Killing An Arab

I do not know how to narrow it down.:sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad:

Jeez, this is even worse. Only two of Boys Don't Cry, Jumping Someone Else's Train, Killing an Arab, Fire in Cairo and 10:15 Saturday Night are going to make the finals??

You can vote for four songs now, and when the Tier 3 survivor begins, I believe it was something like 8 songs can move through from there, so it could very well be that you end up with all four of those songs making the finals.

The way I did it for Springsteen was 8 songs from the Tier 3 survivor, 9 songs from tier 2 and 11 songs from tier 1 (which left two empty spaces of wiggle room for ties).

OK, I'll go with

Three Imaginary Boys (great precursor to Seventeen Seconds)
10:15 Saturday Night (creepy as fuck)
Boys Don't Cry (one of their all-time best pure pop songs)
Jumping Someone's Else's Train (probably top 10 Cure for me overall)

I like all of these more than just about anything on the next few records. Boys Don't Cry is an incredible comp.

10:15 Saturday Night
Subway Song (wonderfully creepy)
Three Imaginary Boys
Fire in Cairo

I'm going with:

10:15 Saturday Night
Boys Don't Cry
Jumping Someone Else's Train
Killing an Arab

Excellent post-punkery going on with this album/era.

So in 24 hours we received half the votes that the Cure albums thread received (which is always going to be much higher). I suspect 48 hours is going to be plenty of time.

Ashley, what are you going to do if there's a tie for fourth, like there is right now between Fire in Cairo and Killing an Arab?

(I'm surprised Fire in Cairo hasn't got more votes to be honest! I always thought it was the second most popular song from TIB/BDC, behind Boys Don't Cry. It's my personal favourite of the bunch.)

Fire in Cairo would be great if Robert didn't insist on spelling out the title. That tactic always irks me.
