I'm sorry, I just wanted to get the horrific Icing Sugar = cookie pun in. So bad.
(have you heard the Weird Remix on Join the Dots? That's even stranger...I think I like it even more!)
But yeah, I think this is the last album where The Cure didn't really have to tackle expectations of what they were "meant" to sound like; Disintegration is a sort of return to the Faith/Pornography moodscapes (with added synths!), and then every album after that a reaction of sorts. So while I do think a decent chunk of this album falls on it's face, a lot of the second half is really cool and experimental. If nothing else, the Shiver and Shake / Fight combo at the end really knocks the final side out of the part in an anthemic way unlike anything they'd done to date.

It's funny; I think I prefer the second half of this album more than the first. Even though two of my favorite songs on it are on the first half, I like the songs on the second half more. Most of them are really strange sounding, and I like that.
