The Cure: 4:13 DREAM

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

Twilight Sad played about 30-35 minutes when I saw them and the Cure was on a half hour later. However, that was the Hollywood Bowl and they run a tight ship because of curfew.

If you want to see the Cure and don't care about the opening act, I would be in your seat by 8:30.

Oh my god, I just noticed their latest set in Colorado featured both Cold and A Strange Day. Consecutively.

I don't think I'd have survived all the emotions.

At which time have they usually started recently? I'm looking forward to their gig in Stuttgart next week, but due to babysitter-issues we would like to come as late as possible to the concert. Entry is at 18:30. Thanks in advance!

"Join us on April 21st @7:30 pm for a Special Screening of THE CURE IN ORANGE on 35 mm at the Egyptian Theatre located at 6712 Hollywood Blvd. Lol will be there for a Q & A and to sign copies of his memoir CURED . Event hosted by cinematic void. Look forward to seeing everyone for a fantastic evening!"

If I have to fucking work that evening, I'm going to cry.

I know, I didn't want to hurt anyone's souls, but I also love being organized. It was a tough choice to make, posting it in here.

I’ll believe it when I see it, but RS claims that a new Cure album will be out by the HOF induction in March.

I'm only casual-at-best with the Cure (I like their eighties stuff), but shouldn't every reference to 'The Cure' or 'the band' in that article be replaced with 'me'?

As in 'I booked some studio time'.

Finally got around to Disintegration and it is stunning (although I think some of the intros could be shortened a bit for length). My favorite of the songs I didn't already know are "Last Dance" (my #1 favorite) and also "Plainsong" and "The Same Deep Water As You." All the songs are good, though.

The more I listen to The Cure, I think that although I’ll always say Disintegration is my favorite, I might enjoy The Head On The Door more.

Which other ones have you heard?

I like this take.

Usually I see a delineation between "best" and "favorite", not between "favorite" and "enjoy the most". But I guess I can understand this in the sense that The Head on the Door is a much easier, fun listen. It's only 37 min compared to the 74 min of Kiss Me x3, 71 min of Disintegration, and 65 min of Wish.

I can't even feel the length of Disintegration anymore. If I ever need to kill a lot of time I turn it on, because I feel like it's over as soon as it starts, I love it so much.

Faith, Pornography, and the compilation Japanese Whispers were the only other ones I was able to get my hands on. I liked the first two a lot (the compilation not as much) but Disintegration towers over all of them in my mind.

The better Cure compilation is Staring at the Sea aka Standing on a Beach, but you may as well just stick to the studio albums.

I'd prioritize:

Boys Don't Cry*
Head on the Door
Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me
Wish

Then go back and fill in the other earlier 80s albums.

*technically a compilation but its status as the USA version of the UK debut Three Imaginary Boys has kind of become an official album here like Magical Mystery Tour. And two of the band's best early tracks, the title track and Killing An Arab aren't on any other studio album. Plus Robert Smith wasn't able to pick the songs that went on the UK release, so it's debatable which is more legit.

You've already listened to the really heavy stuff (Pornography and Disintegration), so none of these should be inaccessible or a tough listen at this point.
