Do let me know as soon as a Melbourne show is announced. So keen.

(Though god, December's looking like it's going to have one crowded concert schedule.)

"Who buys U2 records anyway? It's just music for plumbers and bricklayers. Bono, what a slob. You'd think with all that climbing about he does, he'd look real fit and that. But he's real fat, y'know. Reminds me of a soddin' mountain goat."
"And as for Bono, he needs a colostomy bag for his mouth."

Ok...given the thread and me being me, it's not a big surprise.

Anyway, it's 16 December (see I even did the date the Aussie way for ya!), doors at 7:30 pm. No opener, so make sure to get there early.

Here's the blurb:

And, of course, the link for tickets: click here

The band is supposed to be announcing all the Aussie dates soon, but I stumbled across this one during my daily Steve web mentions stalking and figured I'd post it. The thread needed reviving anyway.

oh my god

ooops, what am I doing here??

It should be within a few days. Then again, it is the Church, so who really knows?

It never occurred to me that U2 was also touring Australia in December. Of course, it's your summer then, so lots of touring going on then.

And Steve Kilbey is in your fair city as we speak (err...type). He's at the Melbourne Writers Festival. Doing a few sessions -- a thing tonight at the Northcote Social Club with a couple of other musicians; a Best of the Fest thingie (which appears to be open only to University of Melbourne Alumni); and an hour long freebie chat/sing thing on Sunday at the Festival Club, ACMI. For more info click here.

This is quite frustrating for me, because I'm in Sydney this week! Fly back today, but too late to make the Best of the Fest thing - and I'm a Melbourne Uni postgrad too! May be able to make the Saturday appearance though. I see he's going to be back in Melbourne on 29/10 to perform with Glenn Bennie at Northcote ...

Well hey, that Thornbury gig is not too far from me, maybe a 70-80 minute walk, and it manages to avoid clashing with U2 or Muse.

Now here's hoping other bands likely to announce tours don't clash either ...

I'm sorry to hear that Ax, do you have that horrible 'flu going around by any chance?? I'm slowly recovering myself, it's the never ending cold! I hope you get better soon!

It's a shame you missed out on yesterday's fun, I was wondering if I'd see you there! Such a wonderful afternoon, it was more a gab fest between Steve and Dave Graney (pretty sure you'd know of him!) talking about all sorts of things .. not so much about songwriting, but everything else! Mostly about their musical inspirations (Marc Bolan, the Byrds, the Beatles ..) crazy ex-Church drummers, screaming matches with past band managers and music exec's, threesomes, tongue-kissing ( ) and a little bit about the songwriting process of Under a Milky Way and the institution it's become

Steve also brought along his beautiful 12 string guitar (which just sounds so beautiful, especially when you really close up!) and played a few tunes and snippets of songs, including 'Almost with You' which I said think sounds sooo gorgeous. He also did a new song 'Ancient World' which is also very good! His latest blog on his timebeing.com website is well worth a read if you haven't done so already, talking about all the shows he's done in the past few days

Oooh, I wanted to say, you must check out the Thornbury Theatre website, because the tickets for the Church's concert in December are on sale, so you might as well get in early if you want to score yourself a seat! Not sure if Indra's mentioned it so far, but there's also another gig coming up in October, featuring Steve Kilbey and GB3 at the Northcote Social Club on October 29. I think the tickets are about $15 .. total bargain! Definately going along to that!

Guess who is getting inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame this year?

(that's a tough one isn't it?)
