Swervedriver

i'm fairly certain that i've made a swervedriver thread before.

i searched through like 40 pages of threads and didn't see one.
saw a bunch of nonsense and arguments and great stuff like that. good times.

anyway, we need a new swervedriver thread, and here it is.

i'll be brief.
they've got a new album coming 3/3. can't wait.
already heard a couple of new tunes - Deep Wound has been around for a few years. it's a real scorcher. gritty, tough, powerful. subtle melody. you know - swervedriver.

so they let out a new song the other day. it's called 'Autodidact". i read a few things that have implied the band was going full-on back to the sound of their debut "Raise". now i can hear a bit of that in "Deep Wound", but this new one is totally "Ejector Seat Reservation", their brilliant and unknown (in the US) 3rd album. Hazy, psychedelic melodies/harmonies, power, tons of musical details interspersed with crushing outbursts. awesome stuff.

Here's a live version:

Ah, Skrewdriver. Good music. Too bad the lyrics are shit.

Swervedriver on the other hand are Nazi-free. As far as I know.

The Society of Shoegaze held a secret meeting in the basement of Kevin Shields' house and collectively decided to give music another go.

I'm glad for it.

Kevin Shields indeed!
New album is streaming on NPR - listen to the first few seconds of 'Last Rites' for some of that bendy K Shields sauce. And check out English Subtitles! Woah...

First Listen: Swervedriver, 'I Wasn't Born To Lose You' : NPR

Sounds like a winner to me. 'Autodidact' keeps getting better and better.

Just finishing my first listen now. This is pretty good. Much better than your average comeback.

Agree with you on that. It's a great record- they should be proud of it.

If you're a fan of guitar rock and you don't know Swervedriver, I can't recommend checking them out strongly enough. High velocity, smart guitar music. Awesome stuff.
