Aerosmith's Joe Perry: 'Steven Tyler has quit'
Yahoo! Music, Nov 9, 2009 12:00 pm PST
Courtesy of NME.com - Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry has said that singer Steven Tyler has quit the band "as far as I can tell."

Perry's comments follow those of rhythm guitarist Brad Whitford, who last week (November 6) said that Aerosmith are to hold crisis talks about their future after relations with Tyler became strained.

Now Perry has confirmed that Tyler is unlikely to perform with the band again.

"Steven quit as far as I can tell," he told the Las Vegas Sun, adding that the singer "has had no contact with me or the other band members."

The past few months have blighted with problems for Aerosmith. In August Tyler was airlifted to hospital after falling offstage at a gig in Dakota. As a result, the band were forced to cancel a U.S. tour.

Reacting to Tyler's supposed departure, Perry vowed to carry on with Aerosmith. He echoed Whitford's recent comments by saying he is considering replacing Tyler with a new vocalist.

"Right now I'm adjusting to how we're going to go on," Perry explained. "Aerosmith is such a powerful band, I mean it's like a steam locomotive. You just can't disregard 40 years of four guys who play together as well as they do.

"As far as replacing Steve, it's not just about that, it's also four guys that play extremely well together, and I'm not going to see that go to waste. I really don't know what path it's going to take at this point, but we'll probably find somebody else that will sing in those spots where we need a singer."

In a recent interview with Classic Rock magazine, Tyler said he wants to concentrate on "Brand Tyler."

The NME is not the most trustworthy news source but, I digress.

I don't care all that much about Aerosmith (although there's no doubt that they have a number of great tunes and have been a positive influence on a number of great rock bands) but I don't think they should go out and get a replacement vocalist. That sort of thing, with some wannabe running around on stage, always comes off as such a bullshit rip off.

If I didn't know any better, I'd say that Red Sox fan just had a nice photo taken with his grandmother.

The leopard print coin purse may or may not have had something to do with that.

oh, but not when you make a US reality TV series to recruit one!

I never really understood that "kiss your eyes" line. I mean, I'm into some fucked up shit, but I've never done that.

And the boobs! THE BOOBS!

The nice sunglasses 1991 Boner lended her him at least distract the eye from the cleavage.

Is THAT what that is? It looks like he's wearing a ring that's half a walnut shell or something, and then he's got eyeglasses dangling from his fingers .... but that would mean he stopped to take those off and put on those gigantic Nicole Richie sunglasses.

.... which would mean he thought that would be a better look than regular eyeglasses. God forbid he get photographed wearing eyeglasses, when he has these babies handy.

H-what?

Dude, people don't understand all the obscure movie references that keep popping up in every thread.

Have you learned NOTHING from today's events?

Unfortunately, no one told him he was 24 years too late to audition for Golden Girls.

I actually have a bit of a soft spot for "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing." Diane Warren is good at writing those big, schmaltzy love songs.

But the best thing Aerosmith did in their career? Putting 18 year old Alicia Silverstone in all of those music videos. Hot damn. Mmmmmmmmm.

He looks like some fading 40's film star who has just left her house for the first time in decades.

Possibly one of the funniest lines I've ever seen in Interference...I thought the same thing when I first laid eyes on that picture...laughed out loud when I came across your post!!!
