That's a lot of material there. Sounds like it will be worth the wait.

Wow, this is so cool. I've never owned a physical copy of the album before, can't really say why. It's the last Bruce album I got around to hearing and slowly becoming one of my favs.

Shuttlecock is going to have to try really hard to top this next year.

Can I confess that the back cover of Darkness was pinned up on my wall for quite a time? You know, the guy in his t-shirt with his hair mussed up?

Awesome.

Hey phanan, I remember a while back you were saying that you were worried that the live concert DVD they'd give us would be one that has been around for a while and that people already know. You were saying that you hoped they would give us one of the unearthed films of a classic show that nobody had really seen.

Being a bit fucked up and so early in the morning and not willing to go back and search the thread: did they give us that? Or is that Houston '78 show the one you were worried they'd throw at us?

I don't even particularly care for Darkness and I'm blown away by this set. So many gigs...If this is what they can muster for Darkness, the wait for deluxe Nebraska won't be easy. Can you imagine the shit Bruce has in the vault for that one? Full electric Nebraska would be the best deluxe bonus ever.

Also, yes GAF, we did get Houston '78. I haven't seen it, so I don't particularly care what show they offered. Just happy for more live Bruce.

Nope, Houston was one of the ones I was hoping for:

Just please don't choose an early show like Phoenix. The latter half of that tour is legendary and deserves to be represented, whether it is Houston, one of the MSG shows, one of the Passaic shows, Agora, or Winterland.

Any one of those will do.
There is actually incomplete audio of the Houston show in circulation, but the sound quality isn't as good as some of the other boots from '78, and obviously it isn't the full show either, so it's a perfect one to use.

And major props for Springsteen giving us a blu-ray version of this. That show is just going to blow people away in great quality like that.

Also, while I've been going on and on about this box for what seems like forever, and concentrating on which show would be included, let's not overlook that 21 previously unreleased songs spread out over two discs is just unbelievable. Quite a few of these songs are out there, and some in decent quality, but to finally hear The Promise, Because The Night, Fire, etc. from back then in pristine condition is just unreal.

Cannot wait.

Electric Nebraska is like the holy grail of unreleased Springsteen. Add the Nebraska versions of songs that made it onto Born In The USA and you've got one hell of an outtakes set.

They could even do a full show from early on in the USA tour, when he was featuring Nebraska material quite heavily. Then, when it is time to do the USA box, they can feature a show from the latter part, which had quite the different setlist by 1985.

And this gives me big hopes for what they'll do with The River. Holy fuck, that will be an absolute monster.

Is it November 16th yet?

On the main site, that little preview clip has about a minute of footage of Bruce and Stevie at a piano doing a little impromptu early version of Sherry Darling. Shit kicks a lot of ass.

It might just have to be a Bruce day today.

Wow, that's one hell of a reissue package. Looks as though he's trying to compete with Neil Young in terms of making his entire back catalogue accessible to the fans. More bands should follow suit.
