Splendour in the Grass 2011

Lineup isn't officially announced until 9am tomorrow morning, but I'm jumping the gun.

The massive rumours (aka I think you can just about bet on them being true) are Kanye and Coldplay as headliners (with neither doing sideshows).

Gomez, The Kills, Friendly Fires and The Vaccines are all confirmed, as a band member from each has slipped up in an interview.

Pulp, Elbow and James Blake have all been strongly rumoured.

I was *this* close to going last year, and if it hadn't been for an 11th hour pull-out from all the crew, I would have gone. I don't regret it much now, as I still got to see LCD Soundsystem and Hot Chip.

If these rumours are true, I'm not that excited. All I'm hoping for is The Flaming Lips to be on the bill, and they announce a Melbourne sideshow. I'll be happy as fucking larry.

Ugh, really don't wanna have to go all the way up to QLD for it.. So I hope all the artists relevant to me do do sideshows. Will wait and see how the line up shapes up.

I've already spent my savings on Alaska trip in July so I can't afford a trip to Queensland. I'd love to see The Kills, Elbow and The Flaming Lips though. And... Pulp?? I usually don't care for reunion shows but in this case I think I'd make an exception.

I definitely won't be going. And I posted "the flaming lips?" on their facebook but someone replied that they're playing at a festival in Canada around the same time

Big Boi is doing one show in Auckland late august though, so hopefully he will do a show in melb...

Line-up's out there. Kanye and Coldplay rumours are true, including the part about no sideshows. Mogwai are coming too, and those bastards aren't doing sideshows either.

Quite excited that my mates Alpine are going - anybody here going to Splendour, fuckin' check them out! So excited for them. Can't believe they've gone from playing piddly little gigs in August last year when we were the only people who knew the songs to selling out the Corner and now playing at Splendour.

Full line-up here: http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/musicnews/s3189631.htm

Some very good acts but it pales in comparison to last year's lineup.

Last Year's line up had a lot more depth in appeal for me personally...

But Elbow -- "Open Arms" live will surely be a festival highlight. They and Coldplay should really get their arses down to Melbourne.

Warpaint were fucking awesome when I saw them in February, so I hope their inclusion in the Splendour line-up is a sign they'll do a sideshow down here; it'd be great to have them back so soon.

Hope Liam Finn does some club gigs around too - I've seen him twice, as support in huge stadiums. Really want to see him in a much more ideal, intimate setting as headliner. But since he's local, I'm not so convinced his inclusion is a harbinger of any sideshows.

It'll be worth it just for Coldplay and Kanye.

True. But I've seen Coldplay and they'll tour here again when they drop a new album, and I didn't love MBDTF as much as everyone else did. If it was Outkast, and not Kanye, I'd be strongly considering it.

DJ Shadow would be pretty sick too.

If Pulp are doing any side shows, I'm gonna make the trudge to Melborn or Brisvegas.
