Wow, some of those songs on my original list (Celine? Avril? etc) still make me cry, but now it's from embarrassment. Also, I'd like to amend my list to add MJ's "Man in the Mirror", "Human Nature", and "Stranger in Moscow". I don't know how I left them off the first time, but especially now they get me. If I just hear the opening to "MITM", I start bawling.

Couple random comments:

1. Those Amália songs were stunningly beautiful. Particularly the first one. Wow. Thanks for sharing those, Aygo-I've never heard of her before, but now I'm intrigued. Also appreciate the backstory about the songs' meanings, too.
2. I've heard so much about Sigur Ros and yet never heard anything by them until now (I'm late to the party, I know, I know...). Nice to finally have that change-love the music, preeeeeeeeetty stuff (and the video for that first song...awwwwww, no! Though I want that red dress).

Just wanted to say that. Back on topic-a couple more songs to add to the crying list: "The Blower's Daughter" by Damien Rice, and "Candle In The Wind" by Elton John.

*Brushes threatening tears away* Awwwww, bunnies....

Just thought of another one: "Waterloo Sunset", by the Kinks. Something about the last verse...I dunno, it kinda gets me choked up a bit.

Ohhh, I didn't even think about that one. It definitely gets me choked up too. "I'll Be There" makes me tear up too. His voice in that song and the emotion in his voice at 11-12 years old was amazing. Pure genius.

Yes. Yes, it is .

I'll admit, after his death, "Man In The Mirror" definitely made me sad when I heard it. "I'll Be There" works, too-but it's a good sort of cry. It's a really reassuring song.

It never fails.

It's ridiculous, even now, just looking at the picture and knowing what's coming could get me started.

Thanks a lot for the youtube links, guys - lots of stuff I've never heard and am loving becoming acquainted with all the new material (the sigur ros stuff above was pretty awesome). Here are a few of my "wonderfully depressing/ chew up your soul and spit it out"-type songs...

YouTube - Suburbia- Matthew Good Band (1999)

YouTube - R.E.M. - Country Feedback - 2 Nov 98 (6 of 11) (favorite live version)

YouTube - Nerina Pallot - Mr. King

YouTube - Radiohead - Fake Plastic Trees

YouTube - Jeff Buckley - "Hallelujah"

YouTube - Ray LaMontagne Burn

YouTube - U2 - October (1981)

Amazon.com: The Next Plateau: Keiko Matsui: MP3 Downloads (only a 30-second clip from amazon, lol - can only find the "piano only" version on youtube)

I suppose that does it for now. Off to eat dinner and continue my studies...

"Lightning Crashes" by Live
Ever since my friend Aura died a few months ago, this song makes me cry my eyes out every time I listen to it for some reason.
