Early this morning soul legend Solomon Burke died at Schiphol Airport (here in the Netherlands).
BBC News - Soul singer Solomon Burke dies aged 70

I first really heard of him when Don't Give Up On Me was released (though I did know the song Everybody Needs Somebody To Love from the Blues Brothers). It gave him a much-deserved revival, certainly here in the Netherlands. I remember that Don't Give Up On Me was promoted quite a lot by DJs on Dutch radio. And his success seemed to continue here in the Netherlands, judging from the fact that he later collaborated with Junkie XL (who, though based in LA or something, is Dutch) and only very recently with Dutch band De Dijk, with whom he recorded a full album of English covers of songs by De Dijk.
Solomon Burke, you will be missed. R.I.P. :(

The only songs I knew by him were the ones from Dirty Dancing. Even so, he sounded really good and put a lot of emotion into his songs.
