Weirdly, the store I went into had a lot of people showing up early (and it opened an hour earlier than a given day), but not too many people were grabbing the records, they were shopping for everything else, movies, CDs, novelties, whatever.

My scores today. The only non RSD album I picked up was Do Make Say Think's reissue of their first LP on vinyl.

I really wanted The Flaming Lips & Friends cover Stone Roses album but it was limited to 500 copies. No stores in my area got it in... As far as I know. I might head to another store tomorrow to see if I can find Miles Davis Jazz Track album since the store I went to earlier didn't have it.

I didn't need the Tame Impala split since I was able to get a copy on Halloween in Los Angeles when I saw the Flaming Lips and Tame Impala live, and the copy I got that night was signed by both bands. So that was a score and I was able to cross it off my RSD list.

The LCD box is apparently a five disc set of the final show. Gimme. LCD box and that old Danny Brown are my top two needs this year.

Meh. The CD selection is very minimal this year. And no interesting titles (yet) either.
I hope they realise not everyone is into vinyl.

haha

anyway, a Led Zeppelin release wouldn't be surprising given their whole remastered/expanded catalogue's out this year. fucking hell that's going to be a proper scrum when the doors open if it's true! then 50% of them on ebay straightaway......

the only thing I'd get out of bed early to try and buy is the Devo album, a lot of that show's on the Live: The Mongoloid Years album so it'd be great to hear the whole thing but these days I just can't be bothered with Record Store Day, I don't know what's changed

I see no Flaming Lips, which is very odd.

Yeah, they did at least one session around the release of Out of Time. I think that show's probably the exposure that got me to dig into their back catalog, and they were my favorite band within weeks. I've got the audio of that show somewhere in my computer, and it's not 4 LP's of material - certainly less than an hour. So there may be another appearance I missed, or there may be a load of material that got culled. I do remember some interesting, not-so-obvious choices for MTV: Disturbance at the Heron House, Belong, Perfect Circle, and a good version of Low.

There's not anything else in that list to get me out of the house, really. Pretty weak.
