I would say Garnet Rogers tied U2 for the top concert. Garnet is always in top form whenever I get the opportunity to see him live and U2.. finally the first long awaited live show was impeccable. I keep looking at the videos and thinking.. oh I wish I could be there.. and then.. oh yea.. I took that video

2009 has been a good year for concerts for me.

1. U2 - Croke Park, Dublin 1 (not only the best of the year but best ever!)
2. U2 - Wembley, London
3. U2 - Don Valley, Sheffield (tied with 2nd place to be honest)
4. Aphex Twin - Warehouse Project, Manchester
5. Massive Attack - Manchester Apollo
6. Morrissey - Manchester Apollo
7. Arctic Monkeys - Manchester Arena

All very good gigs though really, hoping 2010 is just as good

1. Tori Amos 21/11 - Perth
2. Tori Amos 16/11 - Canberra
3. Tori Amos 12/11 - Melbourne
4. Tori Amos 13/11 - Melbourne
5. V Fest 4/4 - Killers, Snow Patrol, Duffy, Howling Bells. . . Awesome!
6. Coldplay 5/3 - Melbourne
7. Big Day Out Melbourne

Tori wins on pure awesomeness, and the 59 different songs she played, Its been a pretty quiet year for me. Still have Green Day to come.

U2- Berlin (one of my favorite concerts ever)
Damien Rice- Mexico City (acoustic solo tour, amazing)
Peter Gabriel- Mty (first time)
The Killers- Mty, Mex (probably one of the best concerts I've been to in Mty, usually crowds in here are lame, but crowd knew every single song)
Broken Social Scene- Austin, TX
Kings Of Leon- Mty
Nine Inch Nails- Budapest (no elaborate stage just 4 guys at what seemed like a school gym)
Travis- Mty (opening for Peter Gabriel, just greast since I've just become a fan recently)
Keane- Mty (very surprised by the energy)

There's more but not worth mentioning I guess

I'll bite, but I really can't rank them, so this is just an in-no-order list of shows I especially loved this year. Let's call it a top 11:

Dirty Projectors @ Antone's
Animal Collective @ Stubb's
TV on the Radio @ Stubb's
Bon Iver @ ACL Festival
St. Vincent @ Mohawk
Okkervil River @ ACL Studio
Phoenix @ ACL Festival
Grizzly Bear @ ACL Festival
The Dead Weather @ ACL Festival
Broken Social Scene @ Seaholm Power Plant
Yeah Yeah Yeahs @ ACL Festival

1. Pearl Jam - Berlin 2009 (by far the best one)
2. Faith No More - Nova Rock Festival, 2009
3. U2 - Zagreb I & II 2009
4. Mudhoney - Zagreb 2009
5. Alice in Chains - Budapest 2009
6. Metallica - Nova Rock Festival, 2009 (this would probably be higher if there wasn't a torrential downpour during the whole concert, in the end I was freezing to death)

In no particular order:

Daniel Lanois and his Black Dub project - AB, Brussels (new album will be great!)
Wilco - AB, Brussels
Elbow - Marconi Studios, Brussels (small gig, 200 people)
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Werchter Festival (and Nick Cave, Fleet Foxes,...)
Gutter Twins - Cactus Festival
Neil Young - Sportpaleis, Antwerp
U2 - Amsterdam Arena

And maybe the best is yet to come: Zita Swoon 15th anniversary concert!

He has been excellent all three times I've seen him, but I never listen to him anymore. Maybe that needs to change soon.

Slow concert year:

1 and 2) U2 in Vegas and LA. - Religious experience
3) No Doubt in San Diego - Great energy
4) Incubus - Hollywood Bowl - Yeah, they were awesome.
5) Depeche Mode - Honda Center - the crowd was so very disappointing, but they sounded really good.

I only saw 2 shows in 2009-

The Church- 7/8/09- Irving Plaza, NYC

This was my first time seeing The Church and it was definitely an amazingly hypnotic show. The band played well and the venue was pretty intimate. I probably had the best spot for a concert ever, so I was able to see the band up close.

U2- 9/24/09- Giants Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ

U2 were awesome as always. It was my 10th time seeing them. I felt they performed better now than the Vertigo tour. The Claw was a definite eye-bug. The only thing that bothered me was when fans were leaving way before the show was over. Like during Streets for Christ's sake! Stay for the whole show.

Anyway, those were my 2 concerts that I attended this year. Both awesome and on 2 completely different levels.

It was an okay year for me concert-wise, both in quality and quantity.

1) U2 09/17 - Rogers Centre-Toronto
2)Kings of Leon - 09/20 - John Labatt Centre - London (because of the company I was with)
2)The Killers 04/27 - Rexall Place - Edmonton
3)U2 10/28 - B.C. Place - Vancouver
4)Band of Horses 09/05 - Royal Theatre- Victoria
5) Plants & Animals 03/20 - Starlite Room - Edmonton
6)U2 09/16 - Rogers Centre - Toronto
7)Priestess - 11/28- Starlite Room- Edmonton
