(News Report)

Scottish singer-songwriter John Martyn has died at the age of 60.

Regarded as a musical innovator, and famed for fusing folk and jazz styles, he had been resident in Co Kilkenny for the last number of years.

Martyn will be best remembered for his influential 1973 album 'Solid Air'.

He continued to write and record up to until recently, and performed concerts from a wheelchair in latter years, after losing a leg to septicaemia in 2006.

Am suprised no one else has responded to this. U2 have claimed in the past to have been influenced by John Martyn. He was using layerd guitar delays when edge was still picking his nose at school.
