Tracklisting for Collapse Into Now:

1. Discoverer
2. All The Best
3. Uberlin
4. Oh My Heart
5. It Happened Today
6. Every Day Is Yours To Win
7. Alligator Aviator Autopilot Antimatter
8. Walk It Back
9. Mine Smell Like Honey
10. That Someone Is You
11. Me, Marlon Brando, Marlon Brando and I
12. Blue

Also according to NME, it's "It Happened Today" that features Eddie Vedder and "Blue" (an ode to interference I'm sure) that features Patti Smith!

I'm really digging those titles. Vedder and Smith are a great sign too. Fuck I have a good feeling about this album. :hyper:

Doesn't Neil Young have a line in Pocahontas that goes "Pocahontas, Marlon Brando, and me"?

Most of those are cool, and there's a couple that sound like Boner at his worst ("Every Day Is Yours To Win").

Also, Stipe already did the alliteration thing with Supernatural Superserious, which was pretty eye-rolling lyrically.

Yeah, it isn't the most poetic song, but it's pretty touching and catchy at the same time, definitely their best lead single in aaaaaages.

Depends what you mean by "ages".

Better than E-Bow the Letter? No.

And while Daysleeper may be one of my least favorite tracks on Up (I like everything on there), it has a little more depth.

Also, as much as I hate on Around the Sun, I did think Leaving New York was a good song.

Supersonic is pretty identical to Imitation of Life, no?

I meant since Up, I like Imitation of Life, though, but I take that back... I blanked and remembered "Aftermath" as the lead single to ATS, I :heart: "Leaving New York".

Their quotes at the end sound rather like U2 promo-speak :D, I'm super-excited nonetheless! I liked getting the details behind the writing/style of some of the songs and learning that Patti Smith chose the title :cute:.

Also, that scan included some words from Guy Garvey on Elbow's next record, a nice little bonus there!

every band always says the new album they've got coming out is the best thing they've ever recorded. it's always the most diverse, or the most representative of their career and music stylings as a whole, whether it's their second or 22nd release. i mean, who's going to say "well, we think the new one is pretty decent, it's not as good as our last few though"? one, that's not going to make people want to buy it, and two unless it's 100% about the money for said band, they're not going to want to put out something they don't feel tops previous efforts because how is that going to be artistically satisfying? pretty sure for their own sake of considering themselves musically releveant, whether it's rem, shuttlecock, or any band, they have to think this (or convince themselves of this fact initially, even if the album comes out and is panned by critics and fans alike and they backpeddle on it in the months to follow, or years later look back in interviews when they're pushing another "best album we've ever recorded" and call it "not their best work" or find some other excuse to write it off as something of a mistake). i hate articles like that because they're all hype and very little substance, nothing we haven't already read in other articles (as far as we already knew eddie vedder, patti smith, and peaches are guest-ing it up. minus the peaches part that is pretty fuckin' cool). call me cynical. i am, however, still pretty psyched about this thing.

I cant recall them calling Accelerate their best work ever, or their most diverse record...

The black and white shots are great!

{Shallow}

Stipe's getting awfully jowly.

Buck needs a haircut.

I really liked Accelerate- coming off the back of the dismal Around the sun, and the generally forgetable one before that- it was a welcome return to form

shame that they played stupid venues on the tour- am not going to see REM at Twickenham rugby stadium- very unfortunate given the wonderful set lists-they even dropped Everybody Bores from the set list (finally)

looking forward to the new album though

No shit? That's the track that Eddie sings on!

Fucking awesome.

Let's get a Vedder/Stipe presidential ticket in 2012.
