I would say A-Punk is their biggest hit, but I guess it doesn't really matter in the scheme of things.

Really? Seemed to me that Cape Cod was what I heard the most on the radio, people's playlists, at bars, etc.

Their biggest single was actually Oxford Comma, at least on the British charts. It reached #38.

Yeah, I was just looking at that. Oxford Comma got to #38, A-Punk got to #55, and Cape Cop landed at #178. A-Punk was the only single to do anything on US charts. Another quick but not perfectly scientific way to determine a band's most popular song(s) is to look at stuff like last.fm listening charts. A-Punk is the band's most listened to song on there by a good amount.

Laz was hinting at exposure other than just commercial charts, though. But I still think A-Punk is the one VW song that a casual music listener would recognize over the others. Like I said earlier, though, none of that matters. At all.

"A-Punk" was also featured at the beginning of Step Brothers, if that helps anyone's argument.

Contra debuted at #2 here in Australia, pretty amazing considering it's on the back of essentially nothing, no commercial radio play, no real promotion or anything like that.

It's had a far bit of indie hype I reckon, tons of articles/interviews in newspapers and the like...

oh definitely, but that's never usually enough, not for a band that's not Australian (Temper Trap) anyway.

Dear Vampire Weekend,

Please learn how to use drum machines as a tool, not a deterrent. Also, when you do FUCKING FINALLY use, you know, real drums as the main percussion, make it something more than a poor excuse for a thrash song. I'm looking at you, "Cousins."

And, you act like a slut.

For realz though, I should like this band. Based on their parts, I should like them. But, when it comes to the sum of those parts, I fucking hate them, and I haven't quite figured out why that is.

The video for "Cousins" is currently a free download on iTunes, if no one's mentioned that yet.
