Funny, I was just about to post something about this. Going in for my first listen now.

I gotta say that I love the lack of typical song structure in this new song. I think thats what was holding Our Love to Admire back from being great

It didnt kick me in the balls the way Pioneer to the Falls did on first listen, but I'm still enjoying it.

Not single material by any means, but that's a great "Interpol back at sounding how Interpol should sound" album track. I like it quite a bit, but this is the type of thing I prefer to hear from them, so I'm probably biased.

So do you guys prefer the boneheaded catchy single Interpol or something? I don't see how people who like Bright Lights or Antics wouldn't like this song. I think Leif Erickson is the best song they've done though, so what do I know.

I think you're an intelligent man.

Haven't heard this track yet, but based on the reaction here, the hum of my computer fan already spoiled the surprise for me. I'll get to it eventually.

The slant was more like, "I'm not sure if I like this or not."

Honestly, I preferred Antics to Bright Lights, but think the latter is a more intelligent album. I still haven't heard (and probably never will) the third album.

It's not as bad as it's been made out to be. Certainly their worst, but if you like the other two, there's still a number of songs to like on Our Love to Admire. Ironically enough though, my favorite songs from it are the "boneheaded catchy singles". :shh:

Ya, I will always be a defender of OLTA. Had it been released by some other band that didnt have TOTBL and Antics to live up to, it wouldve been warmly received. The song structures are a little more verse chorus verse and if feels more radio friendly, but there are still some really solid songs on there. Pioneer to the Falls is among their best. Pace is the Trick and Lighthouse are pretty amazing. Strangely, they left the best song as a bonus track; Mind Over Time is for sure in my top 5 favourite 'pol songs evar

I was looking for the damn Interpol thread last night but I couldn't find one in here.

There should be a number of Interpol threads, I remember posting about them almost daily during the Bright Lights and Antics period... Everything is in the Lemonade Stand Archive now though, so you have to search there and then ask a mod to unlock the threads. Searching in Bang and Clatter only pulls up things from the last year at the most now, which sucks.

I don't know if I've heard Mind Over Time, I'll have to look for it. They really do have some good rarities and b-sides. Specialist and Song Seven are two of my favorite tracks of theirs.

The Our Love to Admire songs were great live as well.

Since it was a bonus track and I assume you own TOTBL, I can sendspace it to you if you like

I just bought it off of iTunes, actually. Lolz and stuff. Listening now.

EDIT: You were right, it's good stuff.

Hmm, interesting song title in light :)hyper:) of all the criticism Editors (who also have a song called Lights) receive for their similarities to Interpol. Just a thought that came to mind.

OLTA is quality, I prefer it over Antics. The final two tracks on Antics really detract from my overall opinion of that album, and I've never been a big fan on Narc for some reason...

OLTA's weak points are the awful All Fired Up and The Scale, truly pointless songs that are Interpol in autopilot for me. On the other hand, Rest My Chemistry, Pioneer, No I in Threesome, Pace is the Trick and Heinrich are sensational.

Leif Erikson and PDA are probably my two favourite Interpol tunes.

Really been wanting to hear Mind Over Time....

Fact: They are opening up the U2 show I'm seeing in Philly.

I have Turn on the Bright Lights, but nothing else. What do I need to know?

Fact: Same here :hyper:

Antics is also a great album, like I said, I haven't heard the third album, but Antics is a lot looser than Bright Lights (imo) and while not as deep, is an entertaining listen.
