My Apocalypse is one of the worst songs Hetfield has ever written. It's absolutely horrible, but it's loud enough to cover up the lyrics. Judas Kiss is bad, and the length of the album is lol worthy. But Cyanide, The Day That Never Comes, and a few of the early tracks are really good. Plus, the riffs, even on the terrible songs, are always good. It's a 7/10 or so, which is fucking amazing after their previous three albums.

I have to say even though musically it kicks all kinds of ass, My Apocalypse is in a whole new level of Iron Maiden style hilarity when it comes to the lyrics.

I think Cyanide is one of the worst songs on the album. It's not awful but the others are better IMO. The Day That Never Comes... esp. that second half, how could anyone not like that? Fucking epic! Unforgiven III is amazing too in it's entirety, almost as good as the first 2. And there are moments in thrash cuts like All Nightmare Long, That Was Just Your Life, My Apocalypse etc. that are up there with their best!

For albums that are "same riff over and over" see St.Anger, there are many change sin these songs

Broken Beat and Scarred is just kickass all the way through, especially that riff at 1.00

I like Load a bit more than Reload, but they kinda lost me in that whole period, and i had pretty much given up until i saw them at the Weenie Roast in May and they played clips of the new album. Of course, live they rock as hard as ever.

Okay I listened to both versions of Suicide and I'm not sure which one I prefer. I know one thing though, it's fast becoming one of my favorite instrumentals of theirs along with Orion, Ktulu and to Live is to Die!

Back they are. What's funny is in the other thread in EYKIW where i keep hearin "yes, well, they'll never be back to their 90's popularity", well so what ? U2 isn't either !

U2 can't do stadium tours any more, and U2 won't sell 10million copies in the US again. Metallica won't sell 14million copies of Death Magnetic as they did with the Black album.

We should just enjoy the resurgences while we can, neither band may be around for that much longer.

I am warming a little more to the album. Still kind of "meh" about it overall, but the guitar work is pretty kickass.
