I rebooted my computer and tried to start the client, at which point the only thing that would pop up was an error message that said "Last.fm has stopped working." I uninstalled and downloaded the application again, and when I ran it, I got the same message.

I'm about to just say forget it. It's more trouble than it's worth these days.

The last few days not long after I've turned on my computer I've gotten an error message about last.fm help needing to close, and I've sent the Windows error report, hoping it would direct me to an update or something, but it hasn't. The program itself has seemed to be working, though. It's been scrobbling fine for me up until today. I'm about halfway through an album in iTunes now and it hasn't scrobbled any of the tracks, even though it doesn't show any problems in the program. I'm sure it will catch up in a day or two if not before, or as soon as I play something I'd be horrified to have anyone know I've been listening to.

what i love is how they're not even trying to at least hurry it up and fix the problem for subscribers or anything. glad to see i'm paying to have my songs scrobble once a day. :|

I got it the other day and I'm pretty over it. It's a bit overrated -- but what I want to know is how to get that last.fm thing in your sig (I sent off for premium yestey)?

At least last.fm is having issues while my pc is in the shop so I'm not really missing anything. (I'm trying to look at the bright side here...) :)

Has anyone worked out this freaking stupid iPod plug in and how it works Exactly with the latest version of last fm?.....its a little bit annoying that it only works at random!!

Last.fm has started offering free on-demand service. Right now it's just available in the UK, US, and Germany, but they expect to offer it worldwide eventually. I haven't tried it out yet, but it sounds like it could be great to use at work. I have a hard time believing the service will stay free, though, but who knows. Now that the company is owned by CBS, maybe they can afford to offer the service for nothing.

There's an article here: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080124/ap_en_mu/techbit_last_fm;_ylt=AiNs4dk2y2XC5fWNuzJF_HiVEhkF
And more information from Last.fm itself here: http://blog.last.fm/2008/01/23/free-the-music

Yeah, I saw that. The only string is that you can play a song 3 times before you're bothered to sign up for their unlimited subscription service.

Doesn't affect me much since I never listen to music on Last.fm anyway, but a nice idea I suppose.

Be a good way of finding new music though, or testing an album out legally before buying it

It could be a very good way to legally sample new music if the selection is broad enough.
Pandora.com is another place to get exposure to artist you may not have heard of (yet).

True, true. I honestly don't think I've ever used Last.fm's music software before. Now would be a good time to do it...

There are a lot of people who post in Bang and Clatter now that weren't back when I first posted my Last FM profile/name. I was looking through the Interference grouip and realized I had no clue if some of you are there or not. Thus, I am reposting my profile as I want yous guys to add me so I can make a mock on you when you're listening to Christina Aguilera (like U2inUtah....).
