I want to! I want Idlewild! Send me a Roddy, please. Or at least his picture with Avro.

A picture with Roddy and Avro would still be hilarious, though! Oh, and ask them if they're doing any gigs apart from the festivals in the UK this summer if you get a chance. Tell them I'm moving there just to seem play.

O.K.

I am posting at work and have to send a flight to Cincy in a few minutes, and I am running on about 25 minutes of sleep since yesterday morning - but I had a blast last night. Saw the show, bought an EP that gives me a discount on the new album. Met most of the band - got an autograph for Meggie, left a message for meggie with a lead singer - then went to an after-show party and ended up hanging out with teh bass player - talking all about U2 (he's from Dublin). I was awesome. And the band is sooooooo nice.

Cheers for Idlewild and more stories later.

I thought all of you fellow Idlewild fans would love this review. It doesnt get much better than this. I got it from Magnet magazine (a fantastic music magazine in my opinion).

IDLEWILD
The Remote Part
As audacious opening gambits go, it doesn’t get more Smiths-sized than to inscribe “Support Your Local Poet” on the inside cover of your record, as these Scottish punk/popsters have done on their third and best album. While frontman Roddy Woomble lacks the Mozzer’s gifts for outrageous self-promotion and high camp, his band’s anthemic choruses, punk-grade energy and reflective lyricism have made Idlewild one of the biggest buzz bands to burst out of the moribund U.K. music scene since Morrissey/Marr in the early ‘80s. The Remote Part is an embarrassment of riches. Leadoff track “You Held The World In Your Arms” cruises at 30,000 feet on the strength of a string-sweetened melody line and a hope-infused defiance. “A Modern Way Of Letting Go” sports as brutal a guitar line as will be heard this year, while “Live In A Hiding Place” and the fantastic “Tell Me Ten Words” apply a touch of R.E.M.’s acoustic wistfulness without drowning Idlewild’s mojo in syrup. If a group this consistently good can’t muster some of the hype (and sales) accorded to overblown slip kids such as the Vines, Hives or Strokes, there’s no fucking justice left in this silly goddamned world and we all need to hang it up and go home. “Even if the breath between us smells of alcohol,” intones Woomble quietly during the closing hymn “In Remote Part/ Scottish Fiction,” “we’ll call it confusion in the best way possible.” If this is confusion, then bring me blessed disorder all the live-long day. [Capitol]

yes you should so you can sing / listen to Tell me Ten Words in your car over and over and over...

Can you tell me 10 words that you’d use, to describe the world
Can you tell me 10 words that you’ve used, to describe the world
To people, through people, never seem to know

Apparently Idlewild themselves thought Tell Me 10 Words was their least favorite song on the album when it came out.

I quite like it myself. That whole album is so consistantly good though, I love every song on it.

I kick stones, kick stones, kick stones, through windows
I’ve kicked stones, which somehow got home

But I’m not proud, that I’m a broken window
But I’m not proud, that I can’t look through broken windows
