Indoors at Mandalay.

They have a small arena. I guess there are a number of outdoor concerts there. It'll be interesting to see. And hot!

Thanks.

So, post Lilith Fair...

I'm glad I went to both because I was pleasantly surprised by a few things.

Despite the Vegas show almost completely unraveling, it was all worth it for 2 bands. They actually moved the B stage to a casino floor stage (sad--most of the audience were bored roadies waiting to pack up the equipment), so the smaller bands had to perform over the din of slot machines. The bright spot was A Fine Frenzy, the last B stagers--they/she are awesome. The lead singer is a tall, skinny ridiculous redhead. She came out and belted out a great song. The audience (now maybe 50 people), loved them, clapped along and booed when their set ended and the roadies ran up to take down the equipment. The lead singer, Alison Sudol, came back out with her guitarist, stood in front of the stage and did an unplugged, impromptu version of Ring of Fire, despite the roadies making noise behind her. Just great!

Anyway, also from Vegas...The Bangles!!! The were spectacular! They played all of their hits, nailed all of them, and had fun. Susanna Hoffs is still gorgeous (she's 51 and looks in her 20s.)

Mandalay Beach is a pretty awesome place to see a concert, too. You can stand in the water or on the beach sand. There are plenty of drink windows, too. I'm looking forward to seeing something else there.

Minneapolis was fine. Vedara was quite good. Metric was really good, and Heart was a lot of fun.

I don't know what destroyed the attendance with the shows this summer, but most signs point to Live Nation being greedy and scaring people away with high ticket prices. Sarah McLachlan claims she'll return with Lilith next summer, so I'm guessing the tickets will be cheaper, and the promotion/marketing will be better.

Susanna Hoffs is 51? She's so pretty. Was Sarah there?

I was going to go to Lilith Fair but it's at a venue that I loathe-they had $10.00 lawn tickets online last week but I'm not about to bake in the heat or sit in the rain without any sort of shade or shelter all day..then wait 3 or 4 hours to leave the parking lot. Too bad, I've always wanted to go. It was probably much better back in the day.

Sarah headlines each show. She was fine in Vegas, but much better in Mpls. (probably the stress of the near flop in Vegas).

She's worth seeing. She has a lovely voice and usually is engaging and humble with the crowd. I've seen her several times. Wait for next summer, hopefully Lilith will be back under better circumstances.

I'm glad you had fun at your two shows and that Metric were good. I'm looking forward to seeing the in October when they open Muse in Newark.

I really do suspect that the outrageous price deterred a lot of people from attending. I didn't pay too much attention to the line ups in various cities, but did read complaints about the lack of "names" participating. Could that have been a factor along with the high ticket price?

Hopefully prices next year will be more reasonable at the start, at not closer to the gig date when they're trying to fill the venues.
