Pretty damn solid album right here, characterized by harmony-driven chamber pop not terribly unlike Julianna Barwick, only Holter's songs are a lot better. There's also a stronger jazz influence at play here. In the poppier moments, she reminds me of Kate Bush.

I too have been waiting for this to hit the $5 price point on Amazon or Google Play. Honestly, that's about the max I'm willing to pay to try out an album anymore if I'm not familiar with the artist.

The album was streaming on NPR First Listen last month but I missed it. However, it appear to still be streaming on the NPR Music app, so I may try to give it a listen today.

Forgot to mention that I purchased and listened to this recently. I really liked the first listen, but it seems like it has a lot of depth and replay value as well.

So the new one, Loud City Song, is damn good - maybe one of the top ten albums I have heard this year. Her sound has gotten much more eclectic on this one, ranging from quiet piano ballads to Vaudeville-inspired romps. Highly recommended.

I like it as well. Need to listen to it more to form a solid opinion on it. Horns Surrounding Me is gorgeous. Some tracks, World for example, are on the boring side of things though. They probably need more listens.

Such a cool album. And the reviews have been extremely positive; 88 metascore is no joke.
