They certainly needed more balance after Static Prevails. Clarity hit the mark, Bleed American expanded it, Futures and Chase This Light tapped the well. For better or worse, the attempt to bring back an edge to the music sacrificed what made the run from BA to CTL good.

To be perfectly honest I rate Bleed American and Futures above Clarity, but whatever way you rank them is a killer run of albums, not to mention some of the non-album material. Stay on My Side Tonight is a great EP, and "No Sensitivity" from a split with Jebediah is one of their very best songs.

I don't really care too much for the albums that have followed. Chase This Light has a few good songs, and "My Best Theory" is fucking awesome, but otherwise my interest is rarely piqued. I'm curious about the new stuff, so I guess I'll check it out soon but there's no tremendous urge to do it now now now like there would have been ten, fifteen years ago.

A little surprising, as Bleed American went in a considerably more poppy direction. As I said, some great tracks, but I just don't hear the majesty of something like Just Watch The Fireworks or 12.23.95, let alone the daring, towering brilliance of Goodbye Sky Harbor (which is a peak most bands never hit).

Goodbye Sky Harbor is a music orgasm. I think as a band we as a collective (u2) fans don't obsess over I suppose it's like a u2 fan of the rights hating 90s u2 (or vice versa). Damage is their 2000s u2

So, folks, how about that perfectly bland new album.

It is certainly safer than I had hoped. Some solid tunes - sure and certain, get right, through, and it matters are all pretty good. Pass the baby is strange - awesome finish, plodding start.

I'll be going to Enmore - saw the Futures 10 Tour last year - was insane - long and epic setlist, they just kept going!

Futures - Start to finish
01. Future
02. Just Tonight
03. Work
04. Kill
05. The World You Love
06. Pain
07. Drugs or Me
08. Polaris
09. Nothingwrong
10. Night Drive
11. 23

Act 2
12. Appreciation
13. Big Casino
14. My Best Theory
15. I Will Steal You Back
16. Lucky Denver Mint
17. The Authority Song
18. Book of Love
19. You Were Good
20. Damage
21. Let it Happen
22. Dizzy
23. Blister
24. Disintegration

Encore
25. Get it Faster
26. Bleed America
27. A Praise Chorus
28. Sweetness
29. The Middle

This new album is pretty good - as Ax says, pretty safe, but doesn't mean it isn't good for what it is. Better album than Damage or Invented.

Was at that Sydney show, it was awesome.

Ax, I think they're playing between sets at the Open.

Yeah, I guess I won't be going then.

Still haven't been motivated to listen to the new album a second time.

Surely they will announce more shows? 3 show tour is hardly a tour, especially if one is at the tennis?

Since I've been all over this thread in the past, let me say that I cannot get into Integrity Blues. Pass the Baby is a big steaming turd right in the middle of it.

So I spend a lot of time listening to the Stay on My Side Tonight EP instead. And a couple years back, I got to see Jim Adkins play a solo show for charity here in Phoenix. Good stuff.
