Thumbs Up Japandroids - Celebration Rock

Out June 5th. Leaked ages ago. Some highlights:

Japandroids - The House That Heaven Built - YouTube

Japandroids - The Nights of Wine and Roses - YouTube

It's aggressive, it's raw, it's got great hooks...it makes you feel glad to be alive. Critics seem to have caught onto this as well:

Japandroids: Celebration Rock | Album Reviews | Pitchfork (8.8/10, BNM)
Boston Phoenix: Japandroids | Celebration Rock - CD Reviews (3.5/4)
Album Review: Japandroids – Celebration Rock | Beats Per Minute (8.7/10)
Japandroids - Celebration Rock / Releases / Releases // Drowned In Sound (8/10)
Japandroids - Celebration Rock | album reviews | musicOMH (8/10)
BBC - Music - Review of Japandroids - Celebration Rock (8/10)

And hell, I'd call it the best rock album of the year so far. These guys have a lot to be proud of, and they seem poised to break through with this one. Get on the bandwagon now.

Done.

I got both of their albums last week. Already received Celebration Rock on vinyl and picked up Post-Nothing on CD.

It's good. Not great, but it's good.

Well, as far as Japandroids go, the one great song that I think they have is Art Czars. I was kind of hoping there'd be more songs as awesome as that on the new album, but no. It's a huge improvement on Post Nothing, though.

It is better than Post-Nothing, although I'll go to bat for Young Hearts Spark Fire any day. Classic track.

I'll agree; that's the one Post Nothing track I think is worthy of note.

Yeah, I thought that the best thing about Post-Nothing was its title. This new one sounds intriguing, though.

They're both awesome, but this one borders on amazing.

I still really love the lead single. Album was on the porch when I got home, looking forward to it.
