If I like Blacklisted, would I like Fox Confessor?

I've finally decided that I really don't like The New Pornographers, but like Neko Case.

Knowing that you like Emmylou (who also should have made the list ) I think you'd really like it.

It's very country but old-school, Patsy Cline Country

Me too. The other album conspicuously absent was Rubber Soul; I would have expected it to place higher than both Magical Mystery Tour and The White Album.

I was surprised Rubber Soul didn't make the cut, either. I know Screwtape (?) wondered where Help! was, but honestly, early Beatles stuff doesn't seem to be very popular around here.

re: Neko Case - I'll definitely check out Fox Confessor. Thanks!

Perhaps this is a bit late, but Screwtape, nice calls on "Violator" and "Viva Hate." The former especially should have made an appearance - it is cut from the same cloth as "Disintegration" and is equally accomplished.

one other thing I would like to point out and this is not to single this person out or anything but asr's list... I don't think the order is technically correct, perhaps they didn't realize how the scoring worked. I wonder how much this would have effected the voting

But if people really did submit their 50 favourite albums then I get the list is fine the way it is

I think the amount of lists an album appeared on should of been taken into account more

Being number 1 on one person's list would make an album better than one that was 50th on everyone's list? Don't think so

Agreed on both counts.

Neko is just amazing. A great songwriter, an incredible singer.

"Star Witness" kills me. KILLS ME.

hey pretty baby get high with me
we can go to my sister's if we say we'll watch the baby
the look on your face yanks my neck on a chain
and i would do anything
to see you again

I was surprised that Rubber Soul didn't make it either, though I can't say I helped it out at all, since it wasn't on my list. One of my favorite Beatles records, but I wanted to try and keep their influence on my list to a relative minimum.

I've noticed the lack of early Beatles love as well, and really, it's fantastic pop music. I love Help!, A Hard Day's Night, and Please Please Me, probably more than a good chunk of their later songs. Their early records are much better and more musically advanced than most of the pop coming out at that time, but I think a lot of people look down upon it because it's not "experimental" or it's mostly simple teenybop music.

yes, but I'm just saying it would be fun some other time to do a different kind of list

I disagree. If an album truly deserves mention, someone should actually have some passion about it. Besides, your example is extreme. Pretty much any album that had 4+ appearances made the top 100.

And the amount of appearances an album received was what decided tiebreakers.

I was hoping Songs of Faith & Devotion would make it. I like that album more than Violator. Violator is such a "rolling stone" pick!
