Impy's Annual Best-of-the-Year Point Distribution Tally Nonsense - Please Participate

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Pitchfork still reviews U2, Coldplay, etc., because it still falls under the realm of "alternative". You won't see them reviewing AC/DC, Nickelback, or the Dixie Chicks, stuff that's nowhere near the type of music they cover. But yet they will review Justin Timberlake because they think he's doing something interesting with music.

They also review alot of hip-hop, which isn't indie rock either, but still represents what they consider vital music being made.

The line is fuzzy, but once you know where it is, it makes sense.

I also doubt they get revenue from reviewing the big albums mentioned. That makes no sense. If they had banner ads, maybe.

They don't review Dixie's, Niceklback and Akka Dakka cause the fans of these artists aren't inclined to want to read or care what a critic has to say about the artist.

Last year, we had a thing where everyone was given 100 points to distribute among 15 albums, not to exceed 15 points per. We tallied all these up to come up with a comprehensive list of B&C's favorite albums of the year.

You can rate however many albums you want. Just use up your 100 points and don't give more than 15 to any one album. This is a fun thing to do and it yields interesting results. If you already have a best-of list, this will take no time at all.

I'd like to have the results in to Anu on the 30th, so I'm going to make the cutoff 8 PM GMT (3 PM EST, 2 PM CST, etc). PM me with your list and points, email me, or post them in this thread.

Thanks in advance, gang.

Short instructions:

1. Cut a hole in a box

2. Make a list of your top 15 favorite albums of the year.

3. You have 100 points to distribute as you see fit to your albums. You may give no album more than 15 points.

4. Send them to me via PM or posting in this thread.

5. ???

6. Profit!

NOTE: I know they are all separate releases, but for the sake of variation, don't include both Fleet Foxes and Sun Giant. Also the same for Viva La Vida and Prospekt's March. I'll be grouping them all together anyway.

Guns N' Roses - Chinese Democracy # 9,5 points (if we're not supposed to use decimals, then it's an 10)

R.E.M. - Accelerate # 9 points

Elbow - The Seldom Seen Kid # 8,5 points (if we're not supposed to use decimals, then it's an 8)

Oasis - Dig Out Your Soul # 8,5 points (if we're not supposed to use decimals, then it's an 8)

Primal Scream - Beautiful Future # 8 points

James - Hey Ma # 7,5 points (if we're not supposed to use decimals, then it's an 8)

Kings of Leon - Only by the Night # 7 points

MGMT - Oracular Spectacular (does this one counts as 2008?) # 6,5 points (if we're not suposed to use decimals, then it'a an 7)

Coldplay - Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends # 6,5 points (again, if decimals are not allowed, then it's a 6)

The Kills - Midnight Boom # 6 points

The Ting Tings - We Started Nothing # 6 points

The Verve - Forth # 5 points

AC/DC - Black Ice # 5 points

Kaiser Chiefs - Off with Their Heads # 4 points

Flogging Molly - Float # 3 points

You have both been tallied.

And for the record, no decimals. I don't trust them.

Okey dokey, folksy wolksies: I collapsed my previous 'best of' thread into this one. Please note, though, that only new lists will get counted, which means all y'all previous posters are invited to 'revise and resubmit' (as we professorly types like to say) your lists in accordance with IMPY13's brilliant scoring system. List on!

I will not participate simply because I was called a "folksie wolksy." That and I've only heard about three albums released this year.

I was accused of being an indie music snob yesterday. I've never been so insulted while at the same time having the accusation be as far from the truth as possible in my life. Then again, I did not need to be a dick in the thread in the first place, so some retaliatory remark was certainly in order.

Anyway, the point is, Impy is a silly little person and I refuse to participate in his nonsense.
