I'm guessing your in the states, so if you pick my list don't worry I won't expect the loaf

But anyway I recommend:

1. Architect- Deus (alt indie rock from Belguim, quite danceable)
2. Wet and Rusting- Menomena (If you like Bloc Party you should like them, not as angular as Bloc though, but I reckon better, more varied instrumentation as well.)
3. I Lust You- Neon Neon (a side project of the singer from Super Furry Animals, classic disco)
4. Back In Your Head- Tegan & Sara (quality pop really, sweet song)
5. The Apocalypse Song- St. Vincent (more good multiinstrumental pop/folky/baroquey...former member of the polyphonic spree if that helps)
6. Painter in Your Pocket- Destroyer (cool cryptic lyrics, more indie rock, bit like more of the low key National songs but a bit more tuneful)
7. Little Bit- Lykke Li (bit like Feists more discoey moments, minimal electro/disco I suppose)
8. Guilt by Association- Louis XIV (dirty indie rock, very good, like A-ha Shake era KOL, but dirtier)
9. D.A.N.C.E- Justice (one of the best dance songs of recent years)
10. Myriad Harbour- The New Pornographers (brilliant melodic pop, all that you need in life to get by really, not dissimilar to Lou Reed really )
11. 2080- Yeasayer (experiemental gospelly psychadelica? great tune anyway)
12. Seventy Four Seventy Five- Shearwater (one of their rockier moments, similar to Okkervil River mainly because some of them used to be in that band, better singer than Will Sheff though)
13. Skinny Love- Bon Iver (really gorgeous folk, I mean really, some of the most beautiful music you could ever listen to)
14. I Should Have Been After You- Rooney (just really fun pop rock in the mould of Fountains of Wayne)
15. Little Lover's So Polite- Silversun Pickups (grungey pop rock, scuzzy goodness a la Smashing Pumpkins)

Sorry if you know some of it, not even sure if it will all be available on the US itunes.

The Glasvegas album.

And LJT's 15th pick cause the Silversun Pickups are awesome. LJ - yo ever listen to Glasvegas? They kinda remind me of Silversun Pickups a lil bit.

I currently have the Glasvegas album on my mp3 player, on regular rotation. Didn't really think about it, but yeah they are kinda similar in parts...I think it's the guys thick Glaswegian accent that stopped me from considerin it.

I dig the accent. It's awesome to hear someone not try to cover up something that thick. Good shit.

ZF - you like the Pixies? I would recommend Debaser, Gigantic, Bone Machine, Hey and Here Comes Your Man as good starting points as well. I notice you have Jane's Addiction listed - along with the Pixies they're my favorite American band.

No list, only a single recommendation.

Sally's Song by Fiona Apple from the Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack.

She does such a chilly, haunting version of it; it's perfect for this time of year.

I wanna play...

"My Mistakes Were Made For You" - The Last Shadow Puppets (Sounds like a song from a 60's James Bond movie. Mmm...Daniel Craig... *slaps self*)
"Mother Mary" - Foxboro Hot Tubs (another retro-sounding song. Green Day side project)
"An Honest Mistake" - The Bravery (half new-wave, half retro. Love)
Anything by Modest Mouse. Specifically, "Float On" or "3rd Dream".
"Seven Nation Army" - The White Stripes
"When You Sleep" - My Bloody Valentine
Anything by The Libertines or Babyshambles. Specifically, "What Katie Did" or "Can't Stand Me Now"
"Ever Present Past" - Paul McCartney.

That's 8...

"Precious" - Depeche Mode
"Kiss You Off" or "Land Of A Thousand Words" by Scissor Sisters. Actually, anything off Ta-Dah! is great.
"Alison" - Elvis Costello
"One More Night With You" - Brian Setzer Orchestra
"No It Isn't" - +44

one more...

"See Emily Play" - Pink Floyd

Enjoy, Zooey.

NOt to derail Z's thread, but I've been meaning to tell you, LMP, that I bought Surfer Rosa a few weeks ago. It has some EP of theirs tacked onto it, too. I love it. Thanks for recommending them.

back to Z's thread now.
