Alexis Taylor's got a new solo joint coming out, Await Barbarians.

First track is pretty boring, but imma still spin the shit in the hope there's some tracks that can match his fellow Hot Chip singer's solo output.

There's a new 2 Bears album on the way as well, October 12.

Really like Huarache Lights. Anyone else? Pre-orders of the deluxe CD or vinyl come with an EP entitled Separate with four original tracks. I will do just that... when I am not destitute.

This is quite cool - every copy of the new album will have different coloured artwork

I'm liking the new track. Will probably order the deluxe CD version. I wish iTunes could handle animated gifs as cover art.

I went ahead and ordered the deluxe CD. The thing I love about the Domino label is that any track released in advance of the album is available for free download.

I'd love to have got the vinyl but just too much money. Got the deluxe CD.

So pumped about this, Hot Chip really are one of my favourite ever bands. I have liked everything they've put out.

The whole thing's streaming, at least for us. I was certain I pre-ordered but I can't find the email...

Well, I made up for it by accidentally pre-ordering twice. If the postage is reasonable, I can send you the extra copy.

Just bought a digital copy. Physical deluxe CD was $30 and the one thing I hate about this band is that they never put much effort into packaging. Different coloured covers is a cool enough gimmick but there was still no booket, just a cover and a CD.

NONETHELESS, once again, Hot Chip deliver a really good album. It's got a bit of a more retro disco/r&b vibe to it at times, but still maintains the Hot Chip touch. Highlights for me on first spin through were Huarache Lights, Love is the Future (stands out with a verse from Posdnous!!!!), Dark Night, Need You Now (probably the best song) and the title track, which is quite a different sound for them, it has really loud, cacophonous drumming and a lot of other sounds going on which is a nice way to finish the album.

If I take off my rose-coloured glasses, it may be just another in a line of consistent, reliable albums from a band that don't make bad music, but has seemed to fall into a reasonably comfortable, safe-ish groove, but it will grow on me no doubt. It might be a bit more consistent than their last album but it doesn't have a banger as good as Flutes. As much as I love them I think they've really only got one truly great album, The Warning, and I'd love to hear more Joe Goddard, his last few EPs have been spectacular.

But yeah v good. Anyone else heard it yet?
