Hey everyone, I'm getting married in May and the place I'm doing it at allows you to have an ipod with your own music playing. So I'd like to come up with a playlist of songs to play. I want some cool love/romantic or similar music...rock/alternative/whatever...really anything...well...I don't really want country or hip hop...I like folk sounding stuff though. Anyway, I'd love some creative song ideas so I can put it together, thanks!

I made a mix for two of my friends who got married a few years ago. Here's what I came up with for them:

No Doubt -- New
The Cranberries -- Dreams
Madness -- It Must Be Love
The Corrs -- Breathless
Bob Marley -- Is This Love
Ashlee Simpson -- Pieces of Me
New Found Glory -- Kiss Me
INXS -- Mystify
The Ronnettes -- Be My Baby
Blink-182 -- Josie
The Bangles -- In Your Room
U2 -- Elevation
Madonna -- True Blue
Stevie Nicks -- Rooms on Fire
Depeche Mode -- Just Can't Get Enough
John Mayer -- Your Body Is a Wonderland
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young -- Our House
Jewel -- This Way
Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band -- Born to Run

Congratulations!

A few I would like to have at my own wedding that are a bit off the beaten path:

Super Furry Animals - Fire In My Heart
Prince - Take Me With U
Smashing Pumpkins - Luna
Pulp - Something Changed
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Hysteric

Also, yes, congratulations. :)

Congrats, wolfQ!

My wedding song was "Country Feedback" by REM. Even though it's been many, many years and even though I am no longer married, it was the perfect choice for us and I love that it was such a unique song.

For my wedding, I'm totally hoping to find a band/singer that will do 50 Cent's "Candy Shop" in the style that it was done in The Hangover. That'll make anyone's wedding a winner.

On a serious note, I think the type of songs you play at your wedding should reflect who you are as a couple. What type of music do you both like? Are you traditional? Something like "Unchained Melody" "At Last", "The Way You Look Tonight" etc. would work. Do you have more indie tastes? What genres of music do you like? All of that is something you'll want to consider.

I see your years in charm school really paid off.

Sorry if I offended you by being all  at your odd choices.

I can handle people being straightforward with me. My reaction was based on your use of "cunts."

You have a lovely evening, now.

i was assuming the wedding wouldn't be attended by uptight cunts. my bad.

I'm not entirely sure there is a more uptight, traditional song choice for a wedding in the year 2010 than Every Breath You Take. Possibly Here Comes The Bride.

And I Touch Myself? Clearly, this couple has had a troubled sex life for a good while now.

i guess they work if you have to retire to the trailer you share with your six brothers (now also brothers-in-law) as your honeymoon.

You forgot to mention how it's one-bedroom. But hey, if you're not into being watched by your siblings on your honeymoon, you're probably just a silver-spooning uptight cunt.
