wasn't that just a Slow Loris rumour around Bomb time? i can't remember...

I never think about Gavin Friday. Ever. But he popped into my head about a half hour before I saw this. :shifty:

In the name of whiskey
In the name of song
You didn't look back
You didn't belong

In the name of reason
In the name of hope
In the name of religion
In the name of dope

In the name of freedom
You drifted away
To see the sun shining
On someone else's day

In the name of United and the BBC
In the name of Georgie Best and LSD

In the name of a father
And his wife the spirit
You said you did not
They said you did it

In the name of justice
In the name of fun
In the name of the father
In the name of the son

throw your arms around me,
there's no time to be blue,
it's the end of the world,
let's talk deep and meaningful things,
it's up to you and down to me.... what's going on?
it's you, me and world war three.

you and me, me and you,
we hurt each other 'cause we gotta get through

we're 'a to b' and back again,
a sort of funky electrocution,
trigger happy and shoot to kill,
what a honeymoon in hell!
our world is spinning helplessly.... what's going on?
it's you, me and world war three

you and me, me and you,
we hurt each other 'cause we gotta get through
we hurt each other.... we gotta get through
we're out there orbiting the planet blue....

i shout you scream, it's all so illogical
you bite my tongue.... i blow up in your face
in hateful times.... it's time for loving
let's start to dance.... it's 'true romance'

you me and world war three
you me and world war three

put on that dress you know your
throwing yourself out the window dress,
i'll wear my suit, my wedding ring
and together we will sing, "la la la la la la...."

you and me, me and you,
we hurt each other 'cause we gotta get through,
you and me, me and you,
we're out there orbiting the planet blue....
....orbiting the planet blue

GAVIN FRIDAY- YOU, ME AND WORLD WAR THREE - YouTube

"You, Me and WW III" has to be my favourite GF song ever. It's been so long since the last time I saw Gavin live that I can't wait to get a chance to catch one of his gigs again. He played at the Electric Picnic today; pity I'm not in Dublin anymore!

As for his new album, I'm totally in love with it. "Lord I'm Coming" reduces me to a sobbing wreck and "Perfume" is simply brilliant.

Btw, this never fails to crack me up:

FTR, I realize this was posted six months ago but Sun, Moon, Stars is/was a real U2 song. Might have been renamed or was just a set of lyrics for a different song. It was also, IIRC, on that white board from the ATYCLB era.

Whether that has any relation to this Friday song, I wouldn't know.

Also, Slow Loris had been outed years ago. Some of the old hands on the board gave us all the heads-up. That's why so many people find the jokes incredibly stale. All you need to do is use the search function. In fact, he posted about 4 times on that link that Earnie posted. What a coincidence, huh?

The fact that Bono makes a very brief appearance in Gavin's TS&TM&TS makes me believe that Gavin's song is at least somewhat derivative of the song U2 were working on during ATYCLB era that never came to be. Good song though!
