Ok, so concert is tonight, in a few hours. I finally bought it last night on iTunes. I've tried to listen to it a few times through today, but I've had so much on my mind, the songs kind of keep slipping through. I think Kingdom of Rust, The Outsiders and 10:03 are the ones that are sticking with me so far. One of the later songs, Compulsion maybe?, has a really cool bassline.

Though preliminary, I still think Some Cities is my favorite Doves album. Damn, I wish I'd seen them on that tour!

But I'm sure they'll be great tonight. I'll report back sometime this weekend.

You better. They're not coming here, so I have to live vicariously through the rest of your Doves' concert experiences. Hope it's a good one, Fitz.

Very good. Downtown Disney House of Blues was a great venue and, thanks to my girl friends that I was with and their rather large mammary glands, we got to sit in the V.I.P. balcony section which lent the perfect view the whole night.

They played a great mix of songs from their catalogue, not gleaning too heavily from any one album. The opener was 'Jetstream' and then they played my all-time favorite Doves song in the #2 spot, 'Snowden', and it was great. I also got 'Ambition' which was just achingly gorgeous.

The new songs sounded absolutely great! In fact, I think 'The Great Denier' and 'The Outsiders' sounded even better than they do on the album, they just worked really, really well live.

The encore was probably the best where they did a great version of 'Here It Comes', ending with all 4 members (they have a piano/keyboard/synths player on tour with them) playing percussion instruments, from two drum kits to Jez on cowbell! And then they went into the most blistering, KICK-ASS version of "There Goes The Fear" to end the night. By the end of it, every foot in that House of Blues was supporting a yelping, clapping, screaming, jumping, happy fool on his/her legs.

I don't know all the new song titles and I can't remember all the songs they played, but here's what I do remember (not in order of the setlist): Here It Comes, Sea Song, Rise, Lost Souls, Words, There Goes The Fear, Pounding, The Last Broadcast, Northenden (acoustic and Jimi solo), Black and White Town, Snowden, Almost Forgot Myself, Ambition, Jetstream, Kingdom of Rust, The Outsiders, Winter Hill, 10:03, The Greatest Denier

My one and only complaint is that they didn't play 'The Cedar Room'. It's such a beautiful, gorgeous song, I'm sad they didn't play it. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to keep on going to Doves concerts until I hear 'The Cedar Room'.

Dang. I'd be pretty bummed to not hear that one as well, it's been my favorite Doves song since my first time hearing them.

Regardless, I'm still extremely jealous. Sounds like it was a great show.

Yeah, I never watch that show either, but it's certainly worth recording to see Doves.

Thank goodness he did because the performance that my dvr recorded did not have Doves on it, despite what the listing stated.

Why is the video not playing?

I'm gonna see them in ToROCKto toMORrow! I'm stoked, I just got in to them a few months ago and I love what I've heard. I thought I was going to have to be late to the show, but as it turns out my professor for my Monday night class resigned on Friday, and we've not heard of a replacement, so...here's to having class cancelled so I can RTFO with Doves!!!

Doves is more important than education, so no worries there.
