Does anybody here write songs?

Does anybody in Interference write their own songs? If so please post them here, lyrics also welcome. I'll post mine later on.

PS: Well, I wasn't sure where to put this, its not really about U2 so I put it here. If this is the wrong place can the mods move them to the appropriate place? Thanks.

I have piles of papers with songs written. I'm just now getting to writing music to some of the better ones. I'm currently working on an acoustic album.

(there's a thread stickied at the top of this page with interferencers' music)

This is the last song I've written--I wrote it just before I joined a band (where I'm a collaborative writer at best, though I only write the music).

It's called Trauma.

All of your dreams come alive
In the emptiness of night
Take the wheel, close your eyes
All you have to do is drive
On the five, across the nine
Blow right through the red stop sign
Take a bow from your side
Looking back across the line

And it feels like you're running further
Faster than anyone has ever
Run away from thunder, shiver
And it feels like the stars were never brighter
With every breath they're falling closer
Such a beautiful disaster

Romantikills, you live and learn
You touched her hand and you got burned
The alcohol blurs the soul
Til your lines have all been slurred
But you preferred the bitter taste
Of the love you made to waste
The hourglass, the sweet caress
And the mistakes you had to make

And it feels like you're running further
Faster than anyone has ever
Run away from thunder, shiver
And it feels like the stars were never brighter
With every breath they're falling closer
Such a beautiful disaster

The shadowlands
Have peeled away
The silhouettes
Of everything
The colours all are brighter there
The colours all are brighter there

Uh, here's a song I wrote...

Go easy on me cos i'm still a teenager...

Quote:
The wheels are turning but you are not moving anywhere
Because you're hanging upside down
My eyes are burning but you just don't care
You're looking for the excuse that hasn't yet been found
I welcome you with open arms, but you just push them away

Stay... Don't go away
Stay... Don't go away
I've done nothing and that's the price I pay
Stay... Don't go away

You push me over and i'm begging on my knees
Your nature is as fierce as the ruthless seas
Then you walk off into the cloudy distance
Leaving me with cuts and bruises on my battered feet
Kneeling on stones made the nightmare complete

And I yell...
Stay... Don't go away
Stay... Don't go away
I've done nothing and that's the price I pay
Stay... Don't go away

I stand up and run towards you but I stagger
I feel like my heart is pierced by a dagger
I can't run but I will crawl
Luckily I cannot fall
When I get to you, I'll tug at your pants
And I'll beg for you to take me back in advance

Stay... Don't go away
Stay... Don't go away
I've done nothing wrong and thats the price I pay
Stay

You pull me up to your level
You open your arms and wrap them around me
And I feel like you just found me once again
I guess we can reconcile
I know i've never been a perfect person
And i'll change it in this while

It'd be appreciated if anyone could give me tips or what lyrics should I change. So far this is probably my best piece of songwriting.

I don't know really anything about songwriting, but it just seems to me that that second to last verse, at least towards the end, you tried too hard to make a good rhyme rather than a decent lyric. But a good job nonetheless over all.

Thanks for the feedback, i'll try to change that.

I understand it probably didn't make much sense (that part of the verse) but i'll learn from that.

I'd love to write expressively Just can't found the output. I don't play music, nowhere near the literate required for poetry...

Here's two verses from a song I just wrote three days ago called "Judgment Day."

Quote:
Now I used to make my money
Playin' games with people's minds
But we took a hit and that was it
We'd hit our own hard times
I'm not hiding in the backroom
Throwin' cash under my bed
I won't stick it out, if I even tried
I'd bet I'd lose my head

So I went from here to nowhere
To set up my own place
I built a house without mirrors
So I'd not have to see my face
I figure since I ain't no good
It'd be best if I stayed away
Make myself just disappear
And wait for judgment day

I've made up theme songs for all my pets. Does that count?
