Disclosure - Settle

This is a fun dance album, surprisingly enjoyable from start to finish. Here are a couple of the singles from the album, and some review blurbs / links stolen from Metacritic.

Disclosure - When A Fire Starts To Burn (Official Video) - YouTube

Disclosure - Latch feat. Sam Smith (Official Video) - YouTube

Mixmag - 100 - An album that perfectly epitomises the new wave of house music--and may even be its peak.

Pitchfork - 91 -The Surrey duo have not only made 2013's best dance record so far--they've also concocted one of the most assured, confident debuts from any genre in recent memory.

CMJ - 90 - Nothing on Settle is left wanting. Disclosure’s debut full-length, after a series of tight and well-curated EPs, has high points as high as any record this year.

PopMatters - 90 - We don’t always need the best dance record of the year to push the genre forward into unseen territory; it’s hard to see anyone besting Settle for the title in 2013, and it’s just as hard to argue we need much more from a record than the unadulterated joy pulsing through every beat here.

Billboard.com - 89 - The brothers have tapped into the amorphous joy at the heart of dance music, and have peppered Settle's masterfully executed tracks with that feeling.

Beats Per Minute (formerly One Thirty BPM) - 87 - It’s one of the most gleeful and replayable debuts of 2013.

Discuss.

Latch is my fav track, but the whole thing is sweet, if a little same-y.

Fire Starts to Burn, F For You and Help Me Lose My Mind are also top notch.

Mine is in the mail as we speak. I've been listening to a lot of dance/electronica lately, so I'm looking forward to this one. Hopefully it can be the welcome surprise that Hercules & Love Affair was a few years back.

The best praise I've read about it is that it's a mainstream antidote to all the brostep bullshit, which is totally true.

Disclosure’s “When A Fire Starts to Burn” is a perfect tone-setter for the U.K.’s unlikeliest pop stars | Music | Hear This | The A.V. Club

Love this album.

Latch is probably the best song of all time.

I didn't like this album much the first time I heard it, but I'm very slowly coming around to it. Definitely improved upon multiple listens.

It's insanely long, that's for sure. The singles are really good and a few other songs are enjoyable as well but this shouldn't be longer than 35-40 minutes.

I'm almost never a fan of albums longer than 45 minutes or so (It's not that I don't like or listen to them, but I definitely start feeling fatigued around that time limit). I know that when I heard the album at work, I was growing very restless listening to it.

The second time I heard it was while I was doing homework and it flew by, so I guess it just depends.

I'm curious to see what a third, potentially more dedicated listen would find me feeling the same way I was the first time.
