She was on the other side of the stage. I actually only saw her a few times throughout the show, when stupid tall people finally moved out of my way.

Because I fail at life. We went through this at the beginning of my post.

Yeah, they're just amazing live. I was hoping they'd be able to maintain the tight vocal interplay, along with the guitar and bass and all of that, and they not only did that, but far exceeded my expectations for how well they were able to do so. The jamming into songs was the icing on the cake for me; I felt like it was a nice way to transition from song to song and done better than other bands I've seen attempt to do that.

Yeah, that's peanuts for what you're going to get. I'd spend $32 to see just the band. I've only been to one orchestral show ever (Okkervil in early 2007), but it absolutely blew me away. You're a lucky man.

Joanna Newsom did a show a couple years ago with the Austin Symphony. I kind of wish I went even though I'm not nuts about her.

Someone had an extra ticket earlier this year to see M83 with the L.A. Phil, and it was pretty damned cool.

This will obviously top it.

It's going to be even harder to talk to THE COFF! after this show, however.

So, uh .... Solange Knowles (as in: Sister of Beyonce) recorded a cover of "Stillness Is the Move."

Did you guys already see this, or decide that the mere thought of it was so abhorrent it wasn't worth mention?

Pitchfork: Premiere: Solange Covers Dirty Projectors' "Stillness Is the Move"

I thought someone mentioned that cover already in this thread, but apparently it was in Random.

But could it ever possibly top this?

Did you foolish suckas see who were the backing singers for Mos Def and Talib Kweli on Jimmy Fallon's terrible show over Thanksgiving?

YouTube - Mos Def & Talib Kweli - History (Late Night With Jimmy Fallon - 11-25-09).avi

My apologies if this was already discussed in the ongoing chat thread.

It's going to be interesting to see how all this love from the hip hop and R&B world affects their future output. More songs like "Stillness" doesn't exactly rub me the wrong way.

And speaking of being rubbed the wrong way, THE DEK!.

It will only make them more awesome. After all, rhythm is devoted to the art of moving butts.

Or the love they're getting from the porn industry.

I realize I'm like a year late on this but I just watched the video for Stillness Is The Move for the first time. Some notes, if you'll indulge me:

1. The song itself was a lot more straightforward and pop shiny than I thought it would be.
2. I really liked it.
3. The girl singer is cute.
4. The dude, though? No. He was only in the video for about 20 seconds and I already strongly dislike him. He looks like a huge douche, tool, creep, hipster, poseur, etc. Any other adjective you want to use. He looks like a cross between Eli Roth and one of the McPoyle brothers. Not cool.
5. The girls should kick him out of the band and go it on their own.
6. Is the rest of the album as catchy and poppy as Stillness Is The Move? I'm going to guess the answer is "No" and then I will be sad.

The "band" is pretty much just him in reality. Other than the girls singing and playing the parts he told them to sing and play, no one else really contributes. He IS Dirty Projectors. Honestly, he's the only reason I like the band.
