Please vote for the playlist you LIKE THE MOST.

Welcome to the second match of the second round for Interference Desert Island V! The premise of this game is that all of the Interferencers have been stranded on a desert island and we can only take up to 160 minutes of music with us (either as a continuous iPod playlist or two 80 minute CDs or any other format of our choosing). The object is to see which forum member can fit the most musical goodness into these 160 minutes.

For every win, each player will receive three points. If there is a tie, each player gets two points. If a player loses a match but is within three votes of the winner, that player will earn a single point.

At the beginning of each round, I will include the updated standings. Remember, the top two from each group moves on to the quarterfinals.

Match 2 pits phillyfan26 against DreamOutLoud13, who is making her debut. Below are their playlists.

If you don't know the songs, or wish to hear how each playlist flows, feel free to check out the Desert Island website. :)

Perilous Desire

This is my first time participating in DI and my playlist may not be a conventional one. Rather than focus on segues and flow and dynamic, interesting songs, I chose to tell a story with my playlist. It is, of course, a love story. It started one night when I was listening to the first track of this list, and I went "I want to start my DI list with this song, and make it a love story.", so I did. It starts with the very beginnings of a relationship, and everything is happy at first... but soon it begins to disintegrate, and we move on into break up songs, and then the aftermath. The first and last songs could sort of be considered the prologue and epilogue, with everything inbetween serving as the story, although exact details about things like what caused the breakup and who was at fault, are left up to the imagination and interpretation of the listeners. The list contains a lot of mainstream, 'pop' songs, simply because I have admittedly strange, often bad taste in music, and because that's a lot of what I usually have on hand, but I think the songs themselves tell the story well. Flow and segue was really not my main concern, and yes, there are a couple of jarring segues. The song that caused the most trouble in that department was the first, because it's from an album where all the songs flow seamlessly together, but as it was my inspiration, I was determined to use it, and so I had to overlook that.

UP NEXT: the tourist vs. Mr. V

Competition master list.

Have fun!

I thought DOL13 did a very good job for her first entry. However, there were quite a few songs that just aren't things I enjoy that much.

I've already stated that pfan's list is very well done, and for this match, he gets my vote.

Pfan. DOL's list is a bit scattered, really, and I'm not big fan of the songs in general.

I like more specific songs on DOL's list whereas pfan's list seems to have better flow. I do enjoy a large amount of songs on pfan's list but I think Chass' list has a few more. That said, her flow is kinda messy. But I'm gonna go ahead and vote for her because she included some absolutely stunning songs!

3. The Killers - "On Top" - Hot Fuss (4:19)
10. Muse - "Starlight" - Black Holes and Revelations (4:00)
11. Depeche Mode - "Enjoy the Silence" - (4:22)
17. Passengers - "Slug" - Original Soundtracks 1 (4:41)
18. Tori Amos - "China" - Little Earthquakes (5:00)
23. Duran Duran - "Come Undone" - Duran Duran (4:38)
26. U2 - "So Cruel" - Achtung Baby (5:49)
32. Sinéad O'Connor - "Nothing Compares 2 U" - I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got (5:10)
33. The Cranberries - "Promises" - Bury the Hatchet (5:26)

I was expecting the worst from that Robbie Williams/Nicole Kidman song but it was actually good! And I think the Sinead song combined with the original unedited version of Cranberries Promises  puts your list ahead, at least for me.
