I prefer Violator myself, although I think Clean is a poor closer.

Looks like the band will be appearing at SXSW in Austin, TX next week. Starting with a panel discussion on March 13th, followed by their first-ever SXSW Showcase on March 15th. Very exciting.

sxsw.com

They're also appearing at the Live on Letterman concert series on March 11th, and performing "Heaven" on the Late Show later that day.

In retrospect, it's rather ironic that he wrote a song called "Clean" a few years before his own heroin addiction.

And now it has more resonance, in my opinion.

But I enjoyed the song to begin with, and actually planned to use it over the credits of a film I was making in high school that never got finished. It's better than New Dress, at least.

Martin writes all the songs, not Dave. But it's assumed he sometimes writes them for Dave. I'm pretty sure he was already into drugs when Martin wrote that one.

And New Dress is fucking awesome.

I already knew that; not sure why it slipped my mind or why I worded it that way. But yeah, like Bernie Taupin, I'm sure Gore occasionally wrote about the man who would be singing the words.

One of the worst venues in Toronto, but I'll probably go anyway. Who knows if this might be the last chance

Ooh, North American dates. What seems puzzling to me is that they're playing the Minnesota State Fair. In some way, an odd choice considering that the Twin Cities has the Target Center and the Xcel Energy Center within it's premises.

Wonder if they're going to add more dates? Schedule looks kinda small.
