It's official now, so I figured I should just make a thread and stop polluting Random Music with info.

Deap Vally announces debut album, Sistrionix | Consequence of Sound

11 tracks plus (supposedly) a hidden one at the end that I begged them to include. Sadly a couple favorites of mine didn't make it but there are four new ones I've never even heard so I'm excited to hear the rest.

They're on a mini-tour of mostly festivals in the U.S. right now, and go back the UK before the album's release for club shows and festivals:

Anyway, here's one of the better interviews with the DV girls:

Chicago peeps:

Deap Vally playing at The Subterranean tonight, wherever that is.

Check it out and you'll be able to say "I saw them back when...."

Also, the band played on Later With Jools Holland this week. Pretty cool.

If it had been last night, I probably would have gone. Was looking for an excuse to hang out in Chicago before the Ariel Pink gig at the Empty Bottle that didn't start til midnight.

There's a small positive blurb about them in the newest issue of Rolling Stone--the one with Daft Punk on the cover.

Reviews are trickling in. Sadly I don't think the U.S. release is happening 'til later this summer:

"If the next generation of kids looking for touchstones grow up hearing this kind of music, the world will be a better, and probably a far more fun place."

Deap Vally - Sistrionix | Album Reviews | DIY

"They’ve given the folk-drenched musical world of the last few years a well timed kick in the balls."

Deap Vally - Sistrionix | The Line Of Best Fit

"Not since the 80s have we had a real rock star like her."

Just finished listening to the stream. I'd never heard tracks 8-11 before (not including the bonus track), and all I can say is that I'm so glad the album finishes as strongly as it starts and doesn't get bogged down in repetition and filler (the last two are unlike anything else before them) and that the new songs were as worthy of inclusion as the favs of mine that didn't make the cut.

Mercifully, the space between the end of the album proper and the bonus track is only like 5 seconds. And that one is a curveball, too.

I think they still don't allow you to buy from an international store, despite being able to view what they have to offer, unfortunately.

Really?

Hmmm.

Well, I just sent a message of congrats to the girls (they're in Europe right now), and I asked about the U.S. release date. Will keep you posted.
