"Golden Years" isn't cold and distant in my book.

Sorry, you take away the cover and you have a 32 minute album. That's what I meant by "slight".

I also said it's a great album.

I never said Ziggy was better. But I think Low, Hunky Dory, and Aladdin Sane (for starters) are greater works.

Why take away the cover? His interpretation is radically different from Nina Simone's and comes close to supplanting it as the definitive take.

I didn't even know it was a cover, so that kind of sours that argument. It's incredible, so I don't see why you'd take it away either.

As awesome as they both are, neither grab me emotionally like Heroes, Lady Stardust, Five Years, New Career, Crashing in the Same Car, Life on Mars

Plus you've got the fact he was so strung out on coke he doesn't even remember making the album. That alone is pretty fucking crazy.

A remarkable performance of Five Years from those heady days:

Doesn't really explode at the end, but still mesmerising.

As is this, from the related videos

Cobbler asked that question like a week ago.

The answer is still yes.

It's odd to me that I just found out they were filming this last night and then BAM there it is! Thanks, Cobbo.

Hahaha I just watched the video. Holy shit.

I'm going to do the air punches from now on when I sing this song, for sure.

Does anyone get the impression from everything about this album that Bowie doesn't like the pedestal he's been put on?
