'The Next Day' will be his highest charting album in the US. Guaranteed at least #2. 'Station to Station' at #3 if his highest. Amazing he hasn't had a #1 yet.

Next Day might get #1 though.

none of us choose the time or the place we are born,
I was at some of those later 70 shows, again I have great LZ and Stones photos up in the attic.

How was the atmosphere back then at a concert like those? Very different from today?

If he gets beat out by the new Bon Jovi, someone is going to pay dearly.

The production doesn't help either IMO with Bowie's vocal centered and buried in the mix... I like my Bowie baritone/bass vocals upfront and clear.

Didn't realize that was his competition. He's doomed.

At least he didn't try to go up against JT next week. He's expected to move 500K copies.

Bon Jovi's last album only sold 160,000 in its first week.

Can Bowie do more than that? I'm assuming iTunes pre-sales count in the totals?

Both are predicted to move around 90K copies. It's going to be a tight race.

I'm pretty sure digital pre-orders do count, even if they're through the label.

Surely BJ hasn't received anywhere near the hype Bowie has.

They've been hyping that album/tour all year and then some, I just didn't know the release date.

At least its Bon Jovi and not One Direction or Kesha or something!

Bon Jovi is performing on American Idol tomorrow, so that could give an edge. Either way, big week regardless. 90,000-100,000 for Bowie is big, could be his biggest week ever. Though its tough to find out how many an album like "Let's Dance" or "Heroes" had.
