Dalton Presents Everyone's Preliminary Top Albums of 2010 (too soon)

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I'd be interested in reading a (too soon) Top Singles/Songs of 2010 thread, if anyone's interested.

I don't really have a list though.

i'm all for a massive thread, i've got something planned out, but can we wait until the year is a bit closer to over? or even jan? i've got about 10 albums i still need to listen to.

I think we all have more listening to do. This thread is even titled "preliminary" and "too soon." It's more of a suggestion thing for albums to squeeze in listening to, I'd assume.

I'm not even going to justify having Contra in my top ten. I love the fuck out of that album.

Well, a preliminary list would go like this...

#1) My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy - Kanye West
#2) Who Killed Sgt. Pepper? - The Brian Jonestown Massacre
#3) The Promise - Bruce Springsteen
#4) The ArchAndroid (Suites II and III) - Janelle Monáe
#5) The Crystal Axis - Midnight Juggernauts
#6) Tourist History - Two Door Cinema Club
#7) False Priest - of Montreal
#8) Infinite Arms - Band of Horses
#9) Plastic Beach - Gorillaz
#10) Hidden - These New Puritans

But for sure this won't be my final list.

And an honorary mention for the most bizarre album of the year: The Terror of Cosmic Loneliness - Tony da Gatorra vs. Gruff Rhys

that was this past year?

my brief infatuation with the band ended before i ever got around to hearing it.

It was released somewhere near the end of February, if I remember correctly.
You should give it a listen, it's among their best work to me.

Your lists never fail to crack me up.

i could not get into the new gaslight anthem album. i didn't try very hard, though. i should give it another listen.

Damn, I totally forgot about the Sleigh Bells album when making that list. It would be in my Top 20, for sure. I will have to amend the list if we ever do a more official thread, or the point tallying thing that peef talked about doing.

I missed that he had Mojo in there the first time I ran through it. Any comments, Gaf?

It grew on me, due in large part to a friend that played the shit out of it over the summer. There are some strong tracks. "Something Good Coming" being one of my favorites of the year.

Also, it's Petty. I like Petty more than most of the younger musicians putting out new music these days. So a record by him is going to end up rating pretty high purely because of the Petty likeability scale.

The Petty factor was strong in my ever listening to the album in the first place. I do like it, but I've never felt compelled to go back to it, really.

"Something Good Coming" however, is probably a top ten song of the year for me.
