Haha, I've never seen this video before! But, I love this song!

All I Want for Christmas is You

On a completely different note:

All is Well

I think there are two different kinds of Christmas songs - the somewhat more modern sounding, poppy, musically simpler ones with lyrics about santa, sleights, reindeer, chimneys, christmas trees, and so on and so forth, the more traditional sounding, more musically sophisticated ones with religious lyrics about Christ, Bethlehem, angels, that are often sung by choruses and in churches. I prefer the latter(even though I'm agnostic).

Oh Holy Night
Oh Come All Ye Faithful
Silent Night
Carol Of The Bells AKA Ukrainian Bell Carol
Hark The Herald Angels Sing
Angels We Have Heard On High
The First Noel
What Child Is This
and although it doesn't exactly fit in the same category, musically it fits in, John Williams' "Star Of Bethlehem" from Home Alone.

and of course the Nutcracker Suite, but that's in a different category all together.

That kind of Christmas music is really beautiful, imo.

For the poppy stuff...I always loved Jose Feliciano's Feliz Navidad, Christmas(Baby Please Come Home), Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree, and Deck The Halls, among others.

Awww!

I played flute for 3 years, then when I had convinced my parents that my wanting to play wasn't just 'a phase' ( ), they finally let me switch to my first choice: tenor sax. (I loved me some Boots Randolph when I was a wee tot. )

I wish I could say that I still played, but I honestly don't know what happened to my sax after I left school. The stupid flute is still in my mom's house!!!

I'll continue to refrain then .

I was just reading through some of the beginning of this thread again, and I have to confess something. I really don't like the Bing Crosby Christmas stuff. I'm sure that means I have no soul, I'll have to deal with that later, I guess. Traditional Christmas is great, but I do enjoy hearing some of the newer incarnations of the classics.

I'm not exactly a fan of Paul McCartney's Christmas song, either, but my vote for worst Christmas song has to go to the Four Seasons' version of "I Saw Mommy Kissing Santa Claus". Yeesh ... And I do like these songs, but seriously, how many freakin' versions of "Winter Wonderland", "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree", and "Let It Snow" are there? Swear to god, at work those are the only three songs I ever seem to hear, in numerous versions.

But on to the good stuff-personally, I like both traditional and newer Christmas music. The traditional songs are beautiful and heartfelt and reverent, and the newer songs are fun because it's neat to hear someone's spin on a classic song or hear their own modern take on the holidays.

I have to say, that's got to be one of THE coolest holiday songs ever. I've always loved that one. I also love "I'll Be Home For Christmas", even if it is one of the saddest songs ever made. And "Baby, It's Cold Outside", too.

You mentioned "Silent Night" in your post...here's a really lovely version of the song. Again, it actually makes me tear up, but it's so pretty as well:
YouTube - Silent Night by Mannheim Steamroller

Lots of great choices in here, the ones I'm not familiar with I'll definitely have to check out. Here's my picks to add to the list:

YouTube - Tom Petty - Christmas All Over Again - With Lyrics

YouTube - What's this????
