Not sure if this is cool or not...guess I'll find out. But I know we had some bootleg discussions in the R.E.M. album thread so I thought this might be interesting. Simply post a bootleg/concert recording (hopefully something we can get hold of) and maybe a quick note why it's awesome (great performance, setlist, sound, whatever).

Kicking it off...R.E.M., 2008-09-20 Luxembourg. Get it here (torrent):

I kid you not, this is one of the best audience recordings I've ever heard. The clarity is amazing, and while there are some clappers 90% of it is between songs and IMO adds more to the live feel than anything else. Here's the setlist:

CD1
01 Living Well Is The Best Revenge
02 What's The Frequency Kenneth
03 I Took Your Name
04 Walk Unafraid
05 Horse To Water
06 Drive
07 Man Sized Wreath
08 Finest worksong
09 Ignoreland
10 Seven Chinese Brothers
11 Hollow Man
12 The Great Beyond
13 Strange Currencies
14 Exhuming McCarthy
15 (Don't Go Back To) Rockville

CD2
01 Just A Touch
02 The One I Love
03 I've Been High
04 Let Me In
05 Bad Day
06 Orange Cruch
07 Imitation Of Life
08 Supernatural Superserious
09 Losing My Religion
10 Sing For The Submarine
11 It's The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)
12 Man On The Moon

Not sure about anyone else but by and large I prefer live to studio recordings, so for me it's a chance to maybe check out some great live shows by bands I either don't know or haven't gotten into.

Well, there's no surprise that I would submit a Springsteen show. Of course, there are tons of Brucelegs around, and you can find almost all of them here:

But here I will post my favorite Springsteen bootleg - Piece de Resistance. At the height of what is arguably his best tour ever. The show just had its 30th anniversary last week. It contains what I feel is the definitive version of Prove It All Night.

I can't wait to download that REM bootleg. and I'll have to check my growing list to see if I already have the Springsteen one. Thanks!

Other than my U2 bootleg collection, I have a lot of Springsteen, a good handful of REM shows (mostly on CD, paid for in the days before I fully understood the glory of the internet), and a few Muse and Arcade Fire shows. Oh, and a really awesome Tori Amos show from her Boys for Pele tour, from Denver I think.

See this is exactly what I'm talking about, nice work phanan. Gonna grab that Bruce now. I'll see what else I can find...

Hey phanan - the links are actually for Cleveland 9/8/1978. ... which I'm looking forward to hearing all the same, but thought I should let you know it's not the Passaic show. ;)

This one should be the Passaic 9/19/1978 show:
