Best/Favorite Music of 2009 Thread

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I write for a music website so I actually had to come up with a list. Lots of enjoyable music out there this year.

Now in an act of shameless self-promotion, here's a link to the music website I write for with our Top 100 Albums of 09 list.

CoS Year-End Report: The Top 100 Albums Of 2009

Sadly, the staff as a whole wasn't too kind to No Line (#100) but the list is still pretty cool.

I'm sure many have already seen this, but I figured I'd throw in a quick link to Pitchfork's Honorable Mentions:

Pitchfork: Staff Lists: Albums of the Year: Honorable Mention

They named 2 albums that will make my "favorites" easily, and a couple others I agree were honorable mention quality. What say the rest of you?

Ha, The-Dream was a pleasant surprise. Here We Go Magic, The Big Pink, and Morrissey also released good albums. So no, not a bad list at all.

1. No Line On The Horizon-U2

3. Working On A Dream-Bruce Springsteen
4. 21st Century Breakdown-Green Day

I haven't heard #4 (or even a song by them).

:shh:

Get on it. Their earnestness would make early '80s Bono blush, and they damn near blew the roof off of the venue I saw them at. Unexpected and fucking awesome.

Can't wait to explore more of the stuff on these lists when I get back home!

I heard that Big Pink album and kind of dug it. I need to give it a few more listens.

There's way too little attention being paid to Doves on here. That's all I have to say for the moment, I've certainly got some catching up to do, but first, an essay!

Apparently it received more votes from their staff members than the others did, or how ever they decide these things. Including EP's in an album list seems a little weird to me, but who am I to judge.

I mean, there were like 4 songs on that EP weren't there? And, imo, only one of them was any good, one was decent, and the rest I've never listened to since I originally got it.

But yeah, an EP never should've been included in an albums list anyways :judges:
