"Old school" refers to the time period from the beginning of hip hop till Run-DMC/the Juice Crew/Schoolly D/Rakim and a more rock-oriented style rap came along (1984-85) as opposed to the disco and funk influenced stuff of the early 80's. The artists you all are talking about are Golden Age artists.

Referring to NWA or Warren G as "old school" is a big pet peeve of mine.
