Temper Trap are quality. Might be seein' em next month. Love Lost is amazing, don't like Science Of Fear though.

bdo? i heard tickets for that sold out in like 12 minutes.

Fools is probs my favourite. Sweet Disposition's overrated. i liked the album, but i think it was overhyped, it's derivative. good shit though.

speaking of classic aussie albums, i really have to get Hunnas' Human Frailty.

To me Science of Fear sounds like if Radiohead cared to make music that was fun to listen to anymore.

I can't believe I missed them here recently, who knows when they'll make it back.

Anybody have any thoughts on Eddy Current Suppression Ring? I'm mostly interested in what any B&C Australians may have to say, as I think I'm correct in understanding that Primary Colors was a pretty big hit, down there. For all I know, he's as big as The Beatles. But it's just as likely that he's as reviled as Jet.

Please, somebody, let me know. I haven't really done too much listening (heard the new Ooga Boogas album, last week, but that's pretty much it), and would like to hear from anybody with any insight into his music, his person, or his reputation. Share. I found Primary Colors for pretty cheap. Should I bother?

I've seen some great local music lately. People, get out of the house and see some lesser known bands. These people need your money for beer!!!!

And I love Eddy Current Suppression Ring. I still haven't caught them live, they always play a night I can't make: I mean, guys, play the same night as the Pixies???? Can you check with me first!!!!

of course he is, what kind of stupid question is that

two of my favourite Aussie songs are:

Frente - Accidentally Was Released
Things of Stone and Wood - I've Just Run Out of Melbourne Cliches

most importantly however, Something for Kate have started writing their new album :cute:

oooh! I just got home from appreciating some Australian music. :)

I wouldn't say ECSR are big by any stretch of the imagination... but they're fucking good. Pure, clean, simple garage rock. If you like Which Way to Go, then you'll like Primary Colours - but Rush to Relax is the better album, I feel. They deserve to be big though. Word is their live shows are sensational and really energetic etc... really disappointed I missed them in both Brisbane and Adelaide, the latter of which they played in one of my regular nighttime haunts...

One of my favorites from the West Coast, The Sleepy Jackson!

Tell the Girls I'm Not Hanging Out, and Old Dirt Farmer are two of my favourite tunes of theirs is not youtubed :(

actually, the debut album Lovers is a showcase of how good Australian can be. without forced commercialism, however on the flipside Luke Steele works for a project called Empire of the Sun these days, and is singing in a falsetto :(

I have a weird sorta crush on Luke Steele that I don't think is an actual crush. Saw him perform as EOTS minus Nick Littlemore (who has just cold disappeared from the project) front row a couple months ago, which was pretty amazing. I like this remix better than any of their actual songs, though:

And of course The Sleepy Jackson were/are great. I used I Understand What You Want But I Just Don't Agree on my last DI, and think it's about as perfect a pop song as has been released in the last decade.

What do you guys think of Tame Impala? I'm hoping to delve a bit more into the local scene in the coming months, as I feel a bit of a jerk for concentrating on international artists for so long. Any recommendations are always welcome.

i'm really digging that Tame Impala album, but i find it hard to listen to in one sitting, just because throughout the voice and the music never really change. Alter Ego is a top song.

the only other Aussie album i've heard this year is British India's Avalanche, which is just basically a guitar album for 30 minutes. few decent songs though.

Album sounds like Dungen + John Lennon, and that shit kinda freaks me out. Fine songs, but I just can't help NOTICING it all the time. Maybe I'm just being a shit listener. Can't help it, though.

no you're right, shouter. not sure who Dungen is/are but i noticed the Lennon similarity immediately, and then from then on you really can't get it out of your head. you can't not notice it.

Thinking of getting that album, just a shame that Sundown Syndrome (Crown Metropol ad) is not on the album as that was the song that got me intrigued about Impala in the first place.

Saw them live a few years back, supporting YouAmI,,,
