Albums released this year that are awesome:

Lotus Plaza – Spooky Action at a Distance
Beach House – Bloom
Andrew Bird – Break It Yourself
Shearwater – Animal Joy
Sharon Van Etten – Tramp
John Talabot - ƒin
Frankie Rose – Interstellar
Julia Holter – Ekstasis
Lambchop – Mr. M
Of Montreal – Paralytic Stalks
Amadou & Mariam – Folila
Grimes – Visions
Alabama Shakes – Boys & Girls
Tindersticks – The Something Rain
Chromatics – Kill For Love

One more month.

At that point, I will probably be gushing over it as well.

I have also been listening to Cocteau Twins lately and am beginning to think that Beach House owes them style royalties or something.

Were you into Cocteau Twins before? I've never heard you talk about them.

Perhaps that parallel is why I love Beach House so much; Cocteau Twins are just as awesome.

European Oils
Painter in Your Pocket
Rubies
Looters' Follies
Watercolours
3000 Flowers
Sick Priest
Dangerous Woman
Your Blues
Priest's Knees

Destroyer Rushmore - European Oils, Kaputt, Bay of Pigs, The Bad Arts

Pink Floyd songs that were played on the "Top 500 Rock Songs" countdown that I listened to on the radio this Memorial Weekend-

1. Brain Damage/Eclipse (counted as one song)
2. Have A Cigar
3. Time
4. Young Lust
5. Money
6. Hey You
7. Wish You Were Here
8. The radio station announced they were going to play another one just as we lost the signal. At number 65, so they may have played more.

Beatles songs they played during the countdown:
1. Come Together
2. Revolution

7 Floyd songs and 2 Beatles songs seems very strange to me.

Talking about Sound of Silver made me think about where it would fall on my list of the best albums of the 2000s:

1. Radiohead: In Rainbows
2. Radiohead: Kid A
3. Radiohead: Hail to the Thief
4. Robert Plant & Alison Krauss: Raising Sand
5. The National: Alligator
6. The White Stripes: De Stijl
7. Fleet Foxes: Fleet Foxes
8. Arcade Fire: Funeral
9. LCD Soundsystem: Sound of Silver
10. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds: No More Shall We Part
11. Sufjan Stevens: Seven Swans
12. The Horrors: Primary Colours
13. Los Campesinos!: We Are Beautiful, We Are Doomed
14. Bat for Lashes: Two Suns
15. Bjork: Vespertine

Do you like This Is Happening more, may I ask? It's definitely my favourite.

Incidentally:

All My Friends
Someone Great
Get Innocuous!
New York, I Love You, But You're Bringing Me Down
North American Scum
Time to Get Away
Sound of Silver
Us V Them
Watch The Tapes

Sound of Silver is my least favorite of the three, despite having his two best songs on it. The fact that we can generally agree on what the good and not-so-good songs is a bad thing.

Do you like This Is Happening more, may I ask? It's definitely my favourite.

The two are pretty close for me, but I think Silver just gets the edge. It feels the most cohesive of his three albums. Dance Yrself Clean is an absolute beast, though, the caliber of song that most artists spend their whole careers trying to make.
