I always mix up songs by The Bangles and The Go-Gos, so I'm going crazy right now trying to find a song that is missing from my list. I'm almost positive it's not by The Bangles, but it could be. The song reminds me a LOT of this song by The Dum Dum Girls

I agree, but I'm pretty damn fond of Belinda Carlisle solo, lol.

Tough call for me, actually.

Perhaps Beauty And The Beat and Vacation aren't as consistent as A Different Light (haven't heard any of them in years), but I might take Our Lips Are Sealed and We Got The Beat over the Bangles' best. And let's face it--their best song was written by Prince.

Written by Prince, or not, it's amazing.

What I think it comes down to is this: Beauty and the Beat and A Different Light are both solid awesome albums, but at the end of the day, The Bangles had more, better singles.

I was very happy with Beauty and the Beat when I first heard it. Extremely enjoyable. The Bangles appeal to the power pop/jangle pop lover in me though.

Pretty even for me between the two, although when you factor in Belinda Carlisle's solo material, she'd get the edge.

And no Top 5 Belinda songs is complete without Summer Rain.

The Bangles were insipid.

The Go-Gos could get up and go. Belinda's solo work tended to emphasize her inability to carry a tune.

Concerts I nearly fell asleep at:

1. Pat Metheny.

Concerts I've fallen asleep at:

1. 2000 tons of TNT fest in Hartford a couple years ago. There was a brief period where I nodded off during some band's set. The band on the small stage sucked, and so did the band on the big stage, so I sat down in a dark corner to drink my beer, and fell asleep for maybe a minute or two. Not even long enough for me to drop my beer. I think this was the point where I decided that I would never go to an all day music event after working the night before, as being awake for 30 hours + down time + alcohol = sleepy time.

2. that was the only one. I don't even know who they were. All that mattered was I woke up for Blood for Blood, and then went home before the cockney rejects (or whatever might have passed for them 3 years ago, cos I doubt it was many, if any, of the original members) put me to sleep as well.

I fell asleep at the Nora Jones concert! It was sooooo slow and boring. I went as a favour to my girlfriend but I guess in retrospect she should have taken one of her parents who would appreciate it more.

Manic Monday is amazing, but it was still handed to them.

They had more singles, for sure. But better? Walk Like An Egyptian (another song given to the band by an outside writer) is fun, but dated. Hazy Shade Of Winter was cool, but it's another cover. Eternal Flame is a generic ballad, albeit well-sung by Hoffs.

As I said, I'll take the two Beauty And The Beat singles plus Vacation's great title track over that stuff.
